welcome Tinkatude, Funny how we have all done things differently.

FI and I sent out a "Save the Date video montage almost a year prior to our wedding date. we annouced our intention to have a DW and that the date was Feb 2/10 and approx. cost.

Then in June we sent out the invites to everyone we had sent the video to, and asked that they respond to our TA by Oct.31 to ensure that price. I pretty much just left it after that ... Your coming your coming... if your not your not... You bloody lost. With that said there are pages of my fustration with my brother that keeps bragging about going and doesn't book.

We are planning a private pool reception after dinner for a few hours until the disco opens... Just to keep the party going for the older family members that may not want to go to the disco. Also for our first dance and toasts.

OK Mommy bear here... Get cracking on those flowers ladies.... I seen so many posts on here about flowers not arriving before the bride and groom have left for their wedding. get that stresser off the list.. come on move it!!!!!!!

OOT bags stuff sometimes can be a little tricky, You need to come up with the bag idea first I think... I have seen some pretty awesome bags (hmmmm Vdaybride!!!!) and I have seen just coloured paper bags with bride and groom logos on them. It is just what you want to spend and how important that is for you. I did drawstring bags at $3.35 each from a promotions company... however it took 4 weeks to arrive.

Transportation of these bags is best "YOU"!!!!! take your stuff with you... I have had to ask family to take things for me because of the weight. I am taking 4 suitcases between FI ad I and I have another 3 shipped out to friends and family.

That's SusieQ 2cents... Hope my lovelies have had a great day... I have been very busy today and I actually slept 5 hour tonight... It's 4.30am and I am excited I got 5 hours sleep.... I am hoping I can convince myself to go back for at least one more hour... I haven't put the coffee on yet... there maybe a chance.

I have been reading through some of the fustrations stresses and fears you gals are talking about... another 2cents from the old bag... It's your wedding, do what makes you and FI happy and stop worrying about everyone else and if they are going to be happy with everything you have choosen or have planned.

I think turning 40 a few years back (Yes STFU) I stopped giving a crap if people were happy with me.... I am happy with me.... I know I can not please everyone... why the hell shouldn't it be me thats my first priorityhuh.gif?? I am going back to bed... old and wise.. tired and stupid ... lol

bloody hell ladies i miss you for one day and it takes me like an hour to catch up.but now ive forgotten everything that i wanted to say to everyone.

teneil,my ahr is 6th march too.

vdaybride, good advice about the list.i need to make my last one tonight.

kim, welcome.right get those invites sent out yesterday.dont take anything that anyone says to heart it is impossible to please everyone.if you dont get them out then it will delay your planning cause you cant do anything until people have rsvp,d.then like timberley mentioned make a list starting with the most important thing working your way down to stuff that can wait a little longer.everyday you need to be checking your list and crossing something off.forgive me if im putting more pressure on you but trust me time is going to fly by and things you dont get done now you will be stressing about later.just remember you need to have fun on the way.

well ladies soo busy at work but i get a new member of staff starting tomorrow so that will help.i have a courtesy car so can get around again.only thing is we have quite bad snow today so we have been sent home from work(yeh baby)spend some time with my ladies.jon has got to walk home (bout 45min walk) as i cant get to him.but he has called in the pub on his way for some warmth lol.

rsvp,s are coming in now for ahr and we have it confirmed from ahr venue that we can do our own hot food and they will warm it for us which is great.i have booked hotel + airport parking.im going to collect my dress in a couple of weeks time.i need to do the last list tonight for the bits nd bobs i still have left to do.can you guys believe how close we are?

susie, you dont need an excuse to drink my friend lol

Hi Tinkatude! Welcome and I hope some of our thigs on here can help you out!

I agree with Vday Bride and Susie....it is your day. You can only do so much to accomodate other people and you know what? IT IS NOT THEIR DAY! If they don't want to go to Mexico and get a great week long vacation plus attend your wedding - their problem, not yours. Just think...the people who care the most about you and that you will likely have the most fun with - they will be there. For those who genuinely cannot make it due to expenses...then you have some sort of reception when you get home. They will not be the naysayers - they will be the ones telling you they wished they could come.

We did not do Save the Dates, but from engagement to wedding is....5 months. So we got our TA to put it all together and we made a powerpoint/PDF that was our initial invite. Those were emailed out to everyone along with a personal note from us letting people know the more formal invites would follow but we really wanted the info out so people had a heads up. Honestly my TA was surprised...she has never had 32 people book within 4 days before! There happened to be a seat sale when we sent our stuff out so everyone wanted to jump on it. That might be something to consider with the time you have.....if you have a good TA, have him/her watch for sales - and you too - and then when there is a good one, send that info out to people. Really you are giving them a years notice, that is lots of time to save if they want to come.

Good luck!

Susie you are so right about the bouquets......I have the sample one er here now, so hoping by the end of the week I have it in my hot little hands (ok at just short of 6 feet tall not so little hands). Luckily the lady who is making them if all goes according to plan is only 3 hours from here and has said it does not usually take her long to make them but some people place orders 3 days before a wedding and think because they are not real flowers they can just be whipped up. I am hoping that I can relax on this one...I know what I want, I just need to see the samples to make sure I am happy with the real touch.

So of course we go to work on ordering the travel mugs yesterday....and in Canada these are ridiculous! On line from discount we can order the same mugs we found here - with printing etc on them - shipping and the exchange makes them less than $5 CAD. Those same (and I mean exact) mugs are $14 here plus set up fees! What on earth am I missing. Does it not seem ridiculous to order something out of Florida and pay 1/3 of the price?

One more grump.....so you know how I did not know if maybe I should order a few extras for late bookers....now FI thinks we may have up to 20 of them!!! stfu.gif I am happy they want to come, but no emails or phone calls to let us know...just word of mouth that has gotten back to FI. So do I order another whole set of table take aways and make extra oot bags...all for potentially nothing? I would rather have more than not enough, but I also don't want 10-15 of these things for us to keep afterwards! Argh......

On that note...off we go for another day of running around. Hope you guys all have a good day:)

Wow Timberly no wonder you're doing fake. My BM bouquets will be $17.50 and I think $4 for the guys. I don't think I'm going to do flowers at the AHR so I think I'm good with the flowers there.

Susie - great advice. I have to keep reminding myself to breathe!!

Welcome Tinkatude!!

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Shells...nice...snow days. Those are always nice to have. Too bad for Jon having to walk, but I imagine stopping for a few...umm minutes/sips...will be okaywink.gif Its good you have the courtesy car...I hate feeling stranded! I realize there is public transportation, but I just like the freedom of my own vehicle!

can you not start a thread asking for someone to accept the order for you from wherever they are cheaper then pay them to ship them for you?

i get where your coming from on the word of mouth thing but i would speak to them people and make sure they are booked before you go buying lots more things.its alot more expense and stress for you if they have no intention on actually booking?

You are right Shells. I think the FI should do just that since it is his family! I don't mind ordering the extra mugs because we do have some close family and friends that just cannot make the trip, so we can give the extras to them, but the rest of the stuff....I don't mind 10 to be on the safe side, but 20?

I don't need to get someone else to accept them....I am in Canada and the price here is triple what it is if I order it out of the US. I would really like to support Canadian business, but when they charge 3x the price it is just not going to happen. I spoke to them about price matching, but the suppliers they use charge them more than what we will pay if we order them from down south. So be it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
