Ok that gives me hope! I have a chiffon dress with a train... not a long train but long enough that it will become annoying at the reception, trying to dance etc... so hopefully there is a way they can bustle it for me too!

Honestly... I never knew it was this popular either until I found this board! We know a couple that did it last year but it was more low key, kind of last minute thing. They were already planning the trip to Mexico and decided to just get married there. I have always wanted to get married on a beach. It just makes more sense too, because all my family is in the West of Canada and have to travel anyway. My FI's family is all here or in Ontario... so to be fair, we wanted neutral ground. But it's definitely not that common.

I got my big stash of stuff from VS already! Very quick shipping, which was good too bad I only like about half of the stuff I ordered. That's why I hate ordering clothes online! I only liked one of the three dresses that I bought. Bummer! And still deciding on the suit.

Brooke and Chris- Did you guys get your suit yet? If so, how was it?

Raykel you look gorgeous! And your waist IS super tiny!! I hope I can look like that in my dress! WOW!

Sue - sorry to hear that you are not feeling well! I hope you get better soon! Where are you from in Newfoundland? I was born in Gander, my grandparents and my mom and her siblings grew up in Campbellton (near Lewisporte), which is where I was until I was 2 years old. I'm so excited for the wedding cause all my aunts, uncles, and cousins are coming (all newfies too..lol) so it should be interesting to see how the FI's family reacts...lol...my MIL is definitely conservative, and I worry a little bit about how uncomfortable she may be as my family is definitely NOT conservative at all....loud and rowdy is more like it!

Tricia - sorry to hear about your package! sad.gif I hate when that happens! That's one of the reasons I hate online shopping - I wish we had a VS store here that I could just go to!

Welcome to the forum Carly! I hope you can get some good advice and support here! :)

Are you ladies excited for Christmas? I'm excited, but worried about Christmas with the inlaws - SIL is causing some grief for me, being rude, etc....and I'm afraid Christmas will be a little uncomfortable - if I say something or if I don't, either way I'll be uncomfortable...ugh...

Hey Krista,

I am from Gambo Newfoundland... I was home this summer to see my pops, I hadn'y been back for 15 years and he is getting so old. I really enjoyed my visit. As for my wedding the only Newfies will be my brother and I. We are going to dance together to Goofy Newfie.. lol should be fun.

I can not believe how close our wedding are ... holy smokes!!!! I am looking forward to the holidays being over so I can focus on the wedding and just relax.... do you back home often?

Hi Sue - looks like you are from pretty close to Gander too! Man it's a small world hey?!! I'm glad you were able to get back home for a bit. I haven't been back home for about 8 years - last time was for my poppy's funeral. So sad, but it was a great chance to reconnect with all my relatives (my mom has 7 brothers and sisters)! It is such a beautiful place and I hope to take my FI out there soon.

As for the wedding - my mom has requested that we play at least a few newfie songs...my FI asked if we could compromise and just play Great Big Sea - I laughed at him...lol...I told him he will just have to put up with it! :)

So I just emailed my WC AGAIN. This time we have approval for the date and time so all is a go. Okay so I'm a little disappointed because I got - you can pick whatever kind of flowers you want (she sent 3 samples as examples), attached a spa price list and then asked if we had any music we wanted or if you wanted to pick from their 2 cds. And that was it!! Now there is only one place for the wedding to take place so there's no discussion there, but can you guys tell me what else you're setting up with your WC. I feel so uninformed!! fryingpan.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
