Chris... OOT bags is new for me too, I just heard about it since joining this blog.
My family members are huge poker players...that's not a bad idea. It sounds heavy for transport though? They are already planning a poker night while we are down there too!

I think it's just a way of saying "thanks" for making the trip. Mine is not going to be as elaborate as some that I have heard, but some people go all out! I'm still deciding what's going in mine...trying to keep the cost down. The more dollar items the better! So far I'm thinking mine will include:

pashmina ($3.5)
sodoku book ($1)
deck of cards (2/$1)
First aid kit ($1)
Pepto tabs ($1)
ibuprofen ($1)
hand sanitizer ($1)
SPF chapstick ($1)
map of ceremony site and reception directions
snacks ($2)
personalized welcome/thank you letter
tide pen ($1.5)
aloe
maybe fan, candle for room, sunblock, not sure what else

Oh my goodness girls - I go away for 5 days and more than 10 pages appear!! I have to go to FL this week and then that will be the last trip until the wedding (crossing my fingers). Although while I was away I got great deals - got my dad's shirt, FI's dad's shirt, FI's tie and loads of christmas presents - almost had to pay for over weight luggage. Okay can you believe it was going to cost me $50 for 5 lbs. over? Rediculous. Next time I take 2 suitcases - it was only $20ish for another suitcase.

I still have yet to start planning my resort wedding sad.gif I am also only getting married there - I didn't want to confuse the FI with two dates. ha ha ha

Oooh! kristaheer I love your shoes!!

Anyway... re. the OOT bags, I hope no one thinks I am being cheap but I just can't afford that. Even by trying to be on the cheaper side $15-$20 a bag... with 40 people coming! That's $600-$800!! Nope, no way, no how. I'll show everyone my appreciation with a big juicy kiss and hug, LOL

I agree...it all adds up!! I'm doing one bag per couple, not per person. Helps, but i know, still adds up.

Those shoes are cute!! I need to start looking!

chris,im not doing oot bags either but i had never heard of them until i came on here.i think its something a rich crazy american chick thought of one day to fill her matching suitcase set.i think its a nice touch if you have a few people going but like you say it does cost extra money

susie, funny story made me laugh out loud.you reminded me i really need to start my xmas shopping.i have drove home from work tonight feeling bit sad cause fi working away all week seeing all of the xmas lights in windows then pulled up outside my dark empty house.feeling sorry for me yet?i aint even got a stroppy step daughter to come home to.

Feeling kind of glum today, dont know maybe its the cold gray weather (I dont know how you guys manage the winters, I think I have seasonal affective disorder)...or that my FI is totally absorbed in football and has zero interest in the details of the wedding.

I moved to the east coast, 2 weeks before I met him (2 years ago this week) and so have made zero good friends here (I have my mom and some nice coworkers but I also work alone a lot so its very acquaintancey )... ie no one within driving distance to share the little wedding details with.

Today I found on this website a wedding coloring book (personalized and printed out for the kids), DIY beach bookmarks (cute and cheap), and created a Superbowl (we r getting married superbowl weekend) crossword puzzle- with this cool program... took me like 2 hours to make and was so pleased with my work and he has NO interest... not his fault but doesnt help my gloom. If anyone is interested in making their own, let me know and i can find the links. I think the guests will appreciate the thought.

I am so happy for you Shells that you enjoyed your boudoir shoot :)

Timberly, that was really sweet of you (I second or 3rd or 4th it)

I looked for Erika myself- last post 11/24? Im sure she is just out there catching up on jet lag and enjoying Asia (lucky thing)

Id love to hear how real touch flowers are. The only flowers I am taking with are freeze dried rose petals. I think we have purchased about a gizzillion of them to toss and for decoration on the tables (which will just have a glass bowl with sand, shells and a candle rather than flowers because I blew the flower budget on the real flower bouquets)

My free bouquet is fushia orchids and the bridesmaids are peony pink, so my grandmother is having the bouquet in her room as a flower arrangement. I know she will be touched (my mom practically started crying when I asked her if it was a good idea)

Our beer koozies arrived the other day. Got my FI to design them... they say- Alison and Austin got married and all I got was this damn koozie 2-6-2010... ha ha

We also start dance lessons this week. We dont know what song for though- thats a whole nother story. What are you guys' first dance songs- do you know yet?
i am mixed between you and brooke.my fi is really excited about everything but when i actually ask him to do something he is yeh yeh it will get done then i do it.i dont think hes done anything except pay for wedding.but i suppose thats a biggie lol.

totally understand about the sad i am the same every year anyone would think i was 90 i hate dark nights and cold weather.when i win the lottery i will move somewhere really nice and warm all year round.if you made no local friends by then you can join me.

like chris says post your pics and we will give you our opinions.it sounds like youve been busy and having fun though.

I am also doing 1 bag per couple and I only have 20ish people coming (works out to 13 bags). I definately would not be doing it if it was going to cost $600-$800. Have you thought about just doing a beach bag or a customized travel mug? Just a suggestion, being there definately is the most important part and my guests are not coming because of the OOT bags. ha ha

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
