Bridesmaid dress SOS!!! Pressured into dress...

Recommended Posts

I think the one-shoulder is super cute! And if it's really weighing on the mind, it looks like a dress that could actually be shortened and still look divine. But I think keeping it long is just fine too ~ you and your girls will looks wonderful either way wink.gif

I can understand why you felt concerned (it's no fun to feel like people aren't listening to you (the BRIDE!) and your wishes, but in this case, HAVE NO FEAR!!! Dress #1 is fantastic, and you should be equally excited that your girls love it, too!

Having been a bridesmaid a few times before, I can say that when one of my friends was the bride, she didn't take the opinions of her 'maids into consideration, and I had to wear a tangerine nightmare of a dress that I not only didn't like, but was really quite embarrassed to wear in the bridal salon, more or less in front of over 100 people on her wedding day! I'm guessing you however are a kind bride, so if you like the dresses and they love them, I think you have found something everyone can be proud of!

And MarieSam is right -- if you're set on short dresses, maybe find out how much alterations to shorten them would be, and if you can afford it, maybe take care of the fee. Or, if you warm up to the idea of keeping them long, then you've already hit a homerun!

Good luck and I hope everything works out!

I love dress one. I actually just bought a similar dress to wear on the beach for anniversary portraits.

I can picture all 8 girls turned to the side holding their bouquets in the shoulderless arm gathered around you.

I think it's super cute & your BMs sound really happy with it. also with dresses what we end up buying is usually so different than what we pictured.

Thank you everybody! I am feeling so much better after reading your comments. The dress designer is Bari Jay style #644 in turquoise, Style 644: Bridesmaids, Prom, Special Occasion & Evening: Bari Jay and Shimmer

and there is a drape on the arm but everyone agreed that we would take that part off when it is altered. Once again thank you all so much I am feeling a lot better! eclipsee_gold_cup.gif

I think as soon as you make any big decision you will start thinking about "What ifs" ... I went through the same thing when I ordered my BM dresses. I kept looking through catalogs finding other cute options and stressing, but then I just stopped thinking about it for a few days, went back and looked at the dress I picked and loved it.

I think your BM dress is great and perfect for the beach. Now the hard part - stop looking at other dresses! Don't cheat on your BM dresses wink.gif

Do what you like! #1 would be great on the beach.

But, I just got home from our August wedding and its warm! I brought lots of long dresses cause I love them and at home they flow and cool air comes up, but in Mexico I couldn't wear them it was too warm. I initially was going for longer dresses but was so glad we went w/ short. One of my girls sweat through her dress I couldn't imagine how warm it would have been in long dresses.

I like MarieSams idea of shortening them!

I understand your feelings about thinking they should be in something shorter, but the dresses look great and if all the girls love them then it's a good deal. The dress is beautiful and will look great in your pictures in the sand!! Don't stress over it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
