We haven't set a date but it is overwhelming to think about all you need to do. Any advice on where to start? We are thinking Cozumel and will likely visit before we finalize that, but any advice on where to place our focus and what is really not important would be great!

My FI and I just started planning and it is a bit overwhelming at first. Although we knew we would do a DW before we were even engaged now that it's here it's hitting us all at once!! Don't fret too much though, right now we're still working on pin-pointing a location, we've done this basically by going through expedia to search for the resorts we want and base it off the price range we want to keep for our guests. Then we go through all of the reviews on the resorts, research the wedding packages available and contact the WC for more information. I also base reviews off of the reviews posted on BDW! After that make your pros and cons list to narrow it down. If you're like me though you'll want to be looking for the more fun stuff - which you can still play around with!! Once you have your location, it will all start to fall in to place!!

Good luck and Happy Planning!!

Congrats! I think the hardest thing to do is to pick a location. I was all over the place with that. I knew I wanted it in Mexico. But where from there? I did research on that location and thought it was it. THEN, I found out (not from my own research, but from friends) that the water was cold and not really good to swim in. I should have figured, it being on the Pacific side. That changed the game, and eventually we chose Playa. My FI has been there (we originally wanted him to go somewhere new) but he has always loved it and said it would be just what I was looking for.

NEXT was the resort. I based it purely off of Tripadvisor. It is a little more pricey than I would have originally liked, but it was really rated high, and it is gorgeous! SO... I guess that's how we got started. Also, I am fortunate enough to have SEVERAL (10+?)brides that I have found on this thread getting married at the same resort before me!! 1 just posted her review and it was great,... so all in all, I am very happy with my choice. GOOD LUCK!!!!

vlynnw I think that is great advice! I would have to recommend the same thing. Check out resorts that you like, expedia is great like vlynn suggested, you can get a good idea for pricing as well as photos and feedback from past travelers. Happy Planning, you will find great information on the forum. I would also suggest using the search engine to find out info from current and past brides as far as their feedback/site inspections go at resorts you like. As LadyTrunck mentioned, I have also been using trip advisor to get current feedback. There are LOTS of great reviews on there. Wishing you all the best. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
