I was wondering how much did they charge you for the candle centerpiece with rose petals? I have all the pdf with the sample centerpiece but there are no prices included, thanks in advance :)

Yeah The candles didn't stay lit even with the breeze coming in - I would recommend flameless either way.

Question for all the brides that booked at the new Dreams Riviera.

I plan on having at least 60 guests coming to my wedding next February 2013. I want to keep the prices fairly reasonable for my guests, but knowing this is a brand new 5 star, I'm pessimistic this will be affordable for most. I'm hoping for $1500 flight and hotel - all in per person.

Am I out to lunch in hoping I could have my wedding here?

If you don't mind sharing - what did you guests pay to stay here including, or not including flight. My guests will be coming in from Toronto and Vancouver Canada.

Thank you for any advice you can offer.

We used a travel agent here in California. We have guests coming from all over the US, so it was easier for us to have someone arrange all their travel and field all their questions, rather than everyone coming to us for that.

Here are the prices our TA gave us. Again, since everyone wwas coming from different places, the prices include ROOM only:

4 nights:

August

  • Premium Garden View- $675 per person
  • Premium Ocean View- $706 per person

5 nights:

August

  • Premium Garden View- $833 per person
  • Premium Ocean View- $873 per person

7 Nights:

August

  • Premium Garden View- $1,113 per person
  • Premium Ocean View- $1,169 per person

I would guestimate that flights would be $500/per person (our were $1000 for my fiance and I) tops for our guests. I'm not sure about coming from Canada.

I hope this helps!

Hi Brianne,

It's hard to speculate what flights may be like in 2013 but I will tell you what my guests are paying in July.  We recommended travel from July 18-22 but we left it open for guests to choose their dates.  Because of this, prices were flexible.  Our agent at Liberty Travel told us and our guests they could stay 4 nights for $544 if they booked within the month.  They have what is called price guarantee so if it goes lower, they get the lower price.  It only took $50 to reserve their room at that rate.  Many people booked but a lot of people didn't and are paying as much as $675-725 for those four nights.  Some people extended as well.  Non stop air to Cancun in July is $668 right now from NJ.  Many people chose 1 stop flights for a lower rate.  In all, I think our guests are paying about $1100-1200 for four nights stay and hotel.  Many people are staying longer though, so naturally their price will go up.  Hope I helped!

Consider yourselves very lucky if you are flying from the US to the Dreams, as we are all coming from Canada in February 2013 & will be looking at around $2100. Per person all taxes included for 7 nights all inclusive. We are hoping for a bit of a discount once all our guests have put down their deposits & we know the true numbers, then we can use the 6 rooms booked discount. What is the date of your wedding?

Hi Bree, I am from Canada and we have to connect to Toronto to get there (this is an extra $500), as well some of my guests are flying out of Vancouver. I'm not sure of the exact price at the momet as I cannot find the email. But I am pretty sure the prices for 7 nights all inclusive were about $2300, and thats for a May 2012 wedding. As other brides had said, you never really know till your TA quotes you a price and I think mine said February was still traveling season therefore should be cheaper than the prices I had.

Hi Just in response to your price from Vancouver in may, 2300? Mine is in February and we were told that is high season and our price is 2100 all taxes included and still hoping for our number of rooms discount. Out TA said later travel was cheaper but we wanted February regardless. We are flying from Alberta.

Message for the Canadian brides out of Canada/Alberta

Hi we are coming from Edmonton and are traveling in May 2012...the pricing packages we were finding for all inclusive (flight and rooms together) ranged from $1579 - $1879 direct flight through westjet (these prices were offered around October through January - this is the best pricing I have ever found for this resort out of Edmonton - we went to this same resort back in May 2010 and the pricing was very similar),...taxes were 118/person and then add insurance on top of that...as of late February the westjet packages jumped as high as 2200 - 2600 as the seats booked up.  So if you can find packages from the 1579 (for deluxe garden view) - up to 2100 for preferred club ocean views - take it.  These were prices if we were to have our guests individually book online (which we did because our group is so small).

We inquired through 4 different travel agents as well (AMA, Marlin Travel, UniGlobe and Westjet) They were giving us "group" prices as high as $2100/person for the base room and we knew we were finding the lower prices for individual bookings for the preferred club rooms) What the travel agents do is grab seats from all different categories at different prices and average a price for your group - not always the best pricing, but they guarantee your group is on the same plane travelling together and paying the same price so it's fair.  Westjet seemed the cheapest as a group rate, but  you have to have a minimum of 10 (double occupancy) booked leaving on the same flight out of the same gateway (we didn't have that many people coming out of one place - so group pricing just wasn't going to work for us).  They got as low as 1695/person for base room with options to upgrade in $50.00 intervals for higher grage rooms.  Another good website to look at is" ITravel2000.com"...they price match and seemed to have some really good pricing (they can also provide group rates) or sell-off-vacations.com.  We were adamant that we wanted a direct flight so we didn't have to worry about lost luggage - but if your not worried about transfers there are lots of options out there...

Hope this helps.  Keep in mind some people might want to use airmiles, aeroplan, avain miles too so you might have some guests that want to book seperately and find the best pricing themselves instead of having to commit to a group rate.  I struggled with this for awhile and it really depends on your guests...all you can do is give them as much information as possible.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!

I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
