Hi

Im getting married at DRC on 15th January 2012! has anyone had the reception at a restaurant? i would like to book a table at a restaurant for 17 people, from what i can work out its 15USD per person plus service charge etc, is there anythig else on top?

Also, how much it cost for an extra tier on the cake?

Thanks!

Re: save-on-crafts.com - my dress has a layer of feathers at the bottom, so I decided to make my bouquets out of feathers as well (and save some money on flowers in the process!)

The feathers from save-on-crafts are beautiful - great quality and they shipped quickly.  Definitely recommend!

OMG! Ladies, I came across this site and it seems to be a one stop shop for the DIY in you.  I'm excited to have found feathers that i'm thinking of using for my centerpieces instead of flowers.

HOPE IT HELPS!  HAPPY PLANNING!

Hi NJ2012,

I wouldnt worry to much now about flight costs. My wedding is in May and alot of airlines dont even have schedules available. Flights look high but its because its so far off. I am not going to worry about booking a flight until Jan/Feb, unless I see something drop dramatically. A friend of mine had a destination wedding also and said she had same problem- flights are usually high until 3-4 months before.  A few months before her May 2010 wedding, flights dropped from $600 to $350 for direct flight to Dominican Republic. Flights from NY/NJ should be same- max $400.  I would suggest stalking expedia a few months before wedding and booking when you find a good price.

Dont stress!

I'm wondering if I'm making the wrong choice and if i should some how ask for my deposits back if this is possible.

I spoke with our travel agent and she said kids 12 and under are free. Airfare is not free which I was fine with. I guess it would matter the time you are having your wedding. If it's their busy season then she said kids are not free but the time we are having our wedding is their slow time so kids are free. You may want to check with your travel agent and see what kind of deals they can get you. Plus we have a large group and she's been able to use that as leverage on getting things.

Hi GCR,

I asked her this question several times and her final response was if you pay for a room for them it is fine- you can use them or just get day passes. She keeps contradicting herself. If you are persistent she will ok it. Just keep your emails. First she told me I couldnt use outside vendors, then she said I could if they had a room, or if I paid a vendor fee. I am keeping these emails as my proof.

Good luck!

I am having my reception on the deck and want to have lots of candles- does anyone know if votive candles will stay on with the breeze or would it be better to get tall vases for the candles?

I was thinking of doing the same thing, myself, for my Oct 2012 wedding and everything I read suggested either tall vases or floralytes/battery operated votive candles. Apparently it can be quite windy and constantly blow out votives. I hope this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
