Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

Lindsey,

I love your flowers.  I got real touch also and loved them, plus all my bridesmaids and I have them displayed in our houses still!  My friend is getting married at DRC and I am helping her plan.

Did anyone do an IPod instead of the DJ's offered?  I did that at my wedding and it was awesome, total control of the songs and all our guests were dancing like crazy.  We got tons of compliments on the music too.  But our resort gave us the sound system and a mic to use at no cost.

Also..we are thinking of doing a three hour reception but having music and dancing for four hours.  We don't really want to pay the extra hour for the Bar..seems a bit pricey when we are at an All-Inclusive.  We figure we could slip one of the staff some cash to keep bringing us drinks..or send one of our guests to another bar to get more drinks..any thoughts???

Ok it's been awhile but i have been super busy. My future mother-in-law went down for a site visit and said I picked a great hotel and raved about how beautiful it was. The only word of advice she had was if you are going to get married on the beach be careful because the Bride who got married while she was down there had to throw her dress away becasue her dress was full of ants. I guess from standing in the sand all day and the train dragging in the sand collected alot of ants. I guess the reception and ceremony was in the sand so that may have been a factor too. All in all I am now super excited after seeing the photos and getting the positive feedback. Happy planning everyone!!!

I'm torn about makeup!!  embarrest.gif  Do my own or have them do it???!?!?!?!  Anybody have any thoughts?  I've never liked my makeup when I've had it done but I've read a lot about Bridal makeup and it seems a little tricky..??  Has any past brides had their makeup done?  I feel I could let them do it all except for mascara...I could do that myself..??

I am having Adrian Guerra from Styling Riviera Maya come in and do my hair and makeup. I've heard nothing but good things about him and he uses an airbrush machine for makeup so it lasts all night especially in the heat and humidity. It's a little more money but it is worth it for me. If anyone is wants his contact information let me know. He is also really quick at responding to emails.

Please email that to me!  Does the airbrush make up rub off on the dress?  I don't want my dress stained in the pictures...courud7346@yahoo.com

Ok Ladies...

The struggle continues, but I'm getting good outcomes. I guess Ana isn't my WC anymore as someone with a "G" name is talking to me. I insisted on the DJ and was told that if they stay at the hotel, it shouldn't be a problem, to which I responded, if I don't get the DJ, I'm moving my wedding... TO WHICH THEY RESPONDED....Ok Miss Courtney, you may use your DJ.......And I have a cake vendor from Dolce Cakes and they wanted them to bake in their over....the baker didn't like that and called themselves as she claimed she just did a sweets bar and a cake for a wedding there 3 months ago....Their response...I can have my cake vendor too!  AWESOME!!!  All that arguing and negotiating paid off in the end!   So I guess you just gotta argue to get what you want from these folks

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
