A beach Day or a Beach Weekend!!! I booked my wedding through Dreams, Ana. I went down for a site visit in October the second week they opened and I loved it so much I booked it while I was there! I put my deposit down after I returned a month later. As for my travel arrangements, I am using a travel agent. It is actually my cousin. She is AMAZING!!! And I am not just saying that cause she is my cousin. A lot of our friends and family use her all the time because she is great, so nice and knows what she is doing. She works for Rosenblues Travel Agency and they are located in Cherry Hill and Downtown. She is actually booking through Apple Vacations and has rooms blocked out for us. You are more than welcome to contact her if you want, she is great!! Here is her info. Sharon Gallo sgallo@rvacations.com
1-800-233-3158. I actually just have all my guest contact her and she does everything. What I did was I created a wedding website with information about the trip, pricing information and her contact stuff. Then I sent out message in the bottles as my save the dates and I put our wedding website on their for a reference about the wedding along with her info. And everyone just contacts her!!! Here is my website if you would like to check it out to help you with your planning.http://www.theknot.com/ourwedding/DeannaDeMayo&JamesBurke . If you have any questions just let me know Iâ€ll be more than happy to help!!!

AND I'm not nor do I stress out at all with this wedding stuff!!!

We also had difficulty with her responding but keep trying. While we were there we got to see 3 weddings and each were beautiful. In addition, we got to meet with several other couples recenlty or soon to be married there. It is a common complaint that Ana does not respond in a timely fashion but in the end everyone was happy with the results. Ana knows what she is doing. Exactly when is your wedding- September 2010?
Actually, our wedding is in 4 days and I was freaking out because we had not heard from here and time is running out. However, we are here now and have already talked to her and everything is perfect.

I've decided to drop the dj sad.gif we will only have about 18 people including us so it doesn't really justify the cost. I already had an extensive list of music that I wanted the dj to play but I'll just throw it on an iPod and the special songs on a cd.

For those ladies that were married here... how did you pack your dress? I have a full size dress (not a "destination" dress) and I'm thinking of just putting it in a suitcase and sending it back with my parents. Did you just take is a a carry on or pack it up?

I'm so excited! we leave in 42 days...
Cathy- The iPod is definately the way to go. While we were at Dreams last month we got to see 3 weddings. 2 of them chose to do the music themselves by using the iPod. Several others who were getting married later in the week also were going the iPod route. Seeing that there was no difference at the receptions is what made us decide to skip the dJ. Besides preparing your own music selection makes it more memorable. Judy

We just got back yesterday from my daughters wedding. Do not worry about things, Ana is amazing. We met with her the day before the wedding and picked out all the food. We had a cocktail hour which I do not feel we needed. It was good, but our guest were ready for dinner.

We used their DJ, we should have also skipped him. He said nothing all night and just played songs. We could have done the same with our ipod, which we took so that we were sure we had the right songs. So $300 an hour, the $900 was not worth the $ at all. You just need to rent the sound system and play your own. Exspecially since the DJ did not speak. Not for the cake or dances, NOTHING.

The cake is pretty ugly. They said it was just white frosting, so we assumed there would be some type of edgeing or something, NOTHING

So we took the BM bouquet apart and put the flowers on the cake for pictures. But no one ate it because you are so full and had dessert for dinner. So I would not pay to upgrade, just bring artificial or taking our bouquet apart worked. The flowers were pretty dead by the end of the night anyways. You can't take them home, so double use them.

The table decorations were glass with rose petals and candles in the middle. If you are outside the candles blow out, it is real windy. We had our inside because of the air conditioner.

We also took our own chair sashes and colored cloth napkins. The The had everything set up just like we asked. We took maracas to sit on the napkins and that gave the guest a little extra favor. Shake for a kiss. We used fushia napkins and put an orange ribbon on them and then the maracas. Added alot of color at a low cost. We got the sashes for $1 a piece. The plain white chairs looked pretty stark by themselves. The sashes really look pretty there.

Our ceremony was on the beach. It is off to the side and gorgeous. The gazebo is right in the middle of everything. NOT private at all. Exspecially if you have it during the day. Lots of people floating around the pool right next to it. And walking all around. It was pretty, but to much going on for our taste.

We used the photographer from the resort. The pictures were amazing. Our package includes 50, but there is not way to only pick 50. They also did trash the dress which they could use as part of their 50. They were all so good that it is impossible to pick ones. The bride and groom are still there and still are trying to dwindle the pictures down.

As far as hair and makeup, they did a perfect job. Their hair stayed all night. Lots of product and LOTS of makeup, but they know what they are doing. I had a visor on the few days before the wedding and it is so windy when we were taking pictures that my hair blew off my WHITE forhead. I never even thought about it, so make sure you tan your forhead too.

The service is wonderful, but it almost seems like you have to tip. They were very accomadating, but you do have to consider quite a bit of extra $ for tips.

They upgraded the happy couple to a master suite. It was bigger than an apartment. They covered their room with roses and candles the night of the wedding. Their is NO privacy on any of the balconys. We never saw anyone in them. And the plung pools only were used by a few people that had little kids.

There are kids there, but mostly they were fine. There were two boys around 10-11 and they were terribly obnoxious. We along with others told them we were taking them to their parents. They finally left the infinity pool and went to one of the others and bugged people over there. Alot of kids crying in the restaurants, but we would go to dinner between 6 -8 pm.

And remember they are on Mexican time. Evertyhing runs late, so don't frett. Our wedding was first set at 7, we moved it up to 6:30 when we met with Ana. It still did not happen until 7:10. Sunset was at 7:30 and we had to hurry to get pictures, We did not get group shots on the beach because we only had enough light time to get the bride and groom. If we would have known, we would have bumped it to 6.

We watched lots of weddings, on day they had 3. They never ran into each other, it is very well organized. So do not worry if there are others on your same day, we had two others and it was just fine. We did not even see the other ones.

Any questions that you have, just ask, I will be happy to try and answer.

Just curious- On your sire visit did you get upgraded to the master suite ocean front? When we went in May the best we could do was preferred club ocean view. Wedding date: Nov. 27, 2010

Did you have your cocktails in the "Garden Area"?

The area where you are dancing--is that simply the deck area?

Thanks again!
May
Cocktail hour in the "garden area" and yes, the reception/dancing was on the deck. We had wanted a lit up dance floor but somehow that never happened. So we just danced on the deck...which worked out fine but we would have liked a little more light.

    • STAY AWAY FROM CARIBBEAN EMOTIONS PHOTOGRAPHY!!!! Michael Weiler is a SCAMMER he took our money and disappeared!! we hired him as our photographer for our wedding back in November, he gave us a run around for the first week or 2 saying our pictures are almost ready and then disappeared. we have been sending him emails, texts and phone calls for the past 4 months and he is now where to be found. I made a fake account to email him and he answered right away as he is only interested in taking peoples money and not give anything in return.
    • For weddings you should definitely use a travel agent as there are promotions and amenities with a group block that you will not get by booking individually like comped rooms, upgrades, spa treatments, etc.
    • Congratulations and welcome to the forum! There are lots of great resort options in Punta Cana and we have stayed at or toured many of them.  Are you looking for a family friendly resort or adults only?  What you interested in with nature and the ceremony? All of the resorts will have different wedding locations and there are also a variety of off resort wedding venues in Punta Cana. Please feel free to email us at info@wrighttravelagency.com if you'd like us to send resort info and check group rates. Thanks! Patty
    • Hello Everyone!  I am currently in the initial stages of planning and I am starting to look at resorts in Dominican Republic. I am thinking of having my wedding in October 2020.  I have been looking at resorts in Punta Cana, but I also want to look at other options/areas as well. The groom and I enjoy nature and we would like to incorporate that into our wedding in some way. We may also have a guest list between 50-80 people. Since we live in the US, I wanted to find a location that is accessible from major airports and is cost efficient for our guest as well as us. Can anyone share what locations they have searched or been to other than Punta Cana? Also I am okay to receive feedback on some Punta Cana locations.
    • Thank you! I did not make these. I purchased them from a business. They are still for sale if you are interested!
