So unfortunately the resort wasn't able to do anything to honour the rates, I was pretty shocked that they couldn't do anything AT ALL. Had I not been in love with the resort I would have walked away. They recommended I go with a travel agent so I called both the agents recommended by Tammy and Rachel, and I was able to get in touch with Rachel's travel agent, she has been amazing so far so my fingers are crossed we get a decent rate :) at least I can move forward with planning for our big day on 26Aug13, anyone else getting married that day too?

Yay !!! I'm so glad that you got in touch with Denise :) She and her staff are amazing!

Hey! They are charging me 10$ a peice for the vases on each table ( so $40 total) and they are going to have tea lights in them. I am not sure how this is going to look lol,but I am taking a chance because part of my destination wedding excitement was not caring or spending a fortune on flowers and centerpieces that I would of in a wedding hall.... but it seems unavoidable. I am sure they are going to make the flowers in my centerpieces match the bouquets. I didn't even mention it but I assume they understand since the flowers are purple and white I am sure the centerpieces will match. I HOPE lol with my 2 70$ regular centerpeices and the $40 for the vases ill be spending 180 which isnt bad at all. Past brides have said to just remind themto take the bouquets right after the pictures on the beach. I am happy because the bouquets arent cheap and to only use them for the 20 minute ceremony and then some pics just seemed like a waste. I really hope it looks nice lol DRC is going to set it up for us the girls dont have to worry about knowing what to do. also the cocktail hour is in between so maybe during that time they finish all the final details and will take care of it then.

how is everyone taking their wedding dress with them??? I'm worried because i don,t want to put it in a bag and fold it ... I rather just take it hanging but I'm not sure if they will allow that

US Airways will not let you hang it but they gave me an entire compartment for just my dress, which was very nice.  The hotel did a great job steaming it so try not to worry too much!

Hello future Dreams brides! This has taken me longer than expected but I'll give a quick overview and then send my full review in a few days.

I just got married on January 28th, 2013 at Dreams and it was an absolutely amazing wedding day and week! My coordinator was Gina (excellent service and organization). We had a large number of guests travel to Mexico with us (89) so hopefully I'll have some insights to share for those of you who are planning for a large group. It's definitely costly but there are some ways around things!

Our wedding day flowed as follows:

10:00 am - 11:30 am: Myself and 5 of my bridesmaids had our hair done at the salon and everyone was very happy with their hair. I got a trial two days before but it definitely wasn't necessary. I had a wedding make-up video done at home and we all followed that on the day of the wedding to do our make-up

3:00 pm: Wedding ceremony on the North Beach - this location was definitely more private than the gazebo on the south beach BUT there were still a lot of random people laying/standing around watching our ceremony. It's just the way it goes down there so I tried not to let it bother me.

6:00 pm to 7:00pm: We reserved a table at the buffet restaurant and they just asked that we tip them well...so we tipped the manager $500 and then our guests all left some tips on the table. This is where we saved a lot of money because if we had made a reservation for all 89 people at $15/person it would have cost a lot more!

7:00 pm till 10:00 pm: Reception (just a few speeches and dancing)...our DJ was Jorge and he was fantastic!

We brought out own photographer down with us just because she is one of my good friends and I also opted to have silk flowers made at home and brought them down with us too.

I have more details to share so I will post a more complete thread in a few days...feel free to send my any questions in the meantime.

I've attached a few pictures that our guests took. Enjoy!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
