1. I know you said there were a bunch of weddings there everyday during your stay..... when you aren't one of them, do they kick all of the hotel guests out from the whole pool area? Im just wondering where you would be able to hang out in the sun if you wanted to when all the weddings are going on!

2. Did you have salon appointments for hair and makeup? How was your experience? Did you have the other wedding parties in there with you at the same time getting ready?

Thank you in advance!

1. The resort does a pretty good job of blocking off a small section around your wedding area, but they don't boot people from the entire vicinity if that makes any sense.  For instance, when I watched my video of my wedding on North Beach which is said to be the most private area of the resort for a ceremony, I saw that there were still guests lounging not too far from our wedding site. However, they did pick up lounge chairs right in the area of our wedding site and even stopped people from strolling on the beach behind our huppah. THey do this for ALL weddings. They would redirect them around our wedding set- up. I'll be honest . . . the gazebo, although gorgeous when set up, is definitely less private from what I observed. From the wedding I saw take place there, I did not notice if they picked up any chairs. The staff will not let people walk through your wedding set-up though. I did however notice a lot of people lounging in bathing suits and watching the wedding during the day since the weddings were taking place so early in the day due to 5 pm sunrise times in December.

2. As far as the spa, my MOH and I set up appointments for our hair and make-up on my wedding day. I was nervous about this as I don't trust random people doing my hair/make up so I set up a hair and make- up trial before our welcome dinner two days before as well. I would recommend this option to any other picky brides.  My MOH and I brought pictures of exactly what we wanted, would redirect the stylist if we wanted something a little less poofy, smooth, etc. Ultimately, we were very satisfied with the end result!

Yes, they did have other people getting ready in the spa area as there were two other weddings that day, but it did not bother us. It looks similar in size to a real salon so unless you have a big bridal party that takes up all of the chairs, there will probably be a few others in there while you are getting ready.

You're so welcome! Happy to help!  :)

Just got back from DRC.  It was amazing!!!  Everything was perfect.  The wedding coordinators and wedding crew definitely know what they are doing.  I can't complain about anything.  I will try to post more of a review later.  To all you upcoming brides: dont worry about anything they will take good care of you and do whatever you want.  Relax and enjoy the planning.  I didn't have much contact with the WC either and I didn't even know when the rehersal was or anything because I had never heard back from anyone before we left but when I got there we got a hold of Lorena and planned everything out.  Everyhting was perfect!!!

Emily,

We get married March 12th! I think I'm the only bride crazy enough to get married during Spring Break! Trips were obviously pricey but we still have about 70 ppl coming! I'm the same way, on the roller coaster of calm & stress. I haven't heard from Lorena in months but keeping myself busy with the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. We still have a lot to do and it seems like time is flying! How long will you be there?

Thanks for the info! :)

Does anyone have recommendations for the rehearsal dinner? We are planning on just making a reservation for about 25 people when we arrive at Dreams at the restaurant: Portofino. I'm not sure what the resorts rules are regarding large reservations... Thanks in advance for your advice/help! :)

I got married at Dreams Riviera Cancun on Saturday 12/8/12 at 3:00pm on the North Beach. Our reception was on the pool terrace. It was the most perfect day! I will write a review soon with photos, but I wanted to let you future brides know that they are awesome! Everything was absolutely perfect! I was really worried at first since I had not spoke to my wedding coordinator Gabi, but once I was there, she was really on top of things. These ladies know what they are doing. You have nothing to worry about!!

The food was AMAZING! We had the Ultimate package and chose the sit down dinner with the beef and chicken. The shrimp appetizer was DELICIOUS, and all of our guests really loved the salmon appetizer as well. Our guests said the wedding food was the best food they had there, however all of the food at the resort is good!  All of our guests said this is one of the best all inclusive resorts they had ever been to!

Also, since we had 40 people, we skipped the cocktail hour and traded in the cost of food & beverage for the cocktail hour to accomodate our additional guests at the dinner reception. We also extended the reception for 1 hour. All of our guests went to the lobby bar for cocktails while we were getting photos. They did not seem to mind at all.

We also got the Mariachi trio with our package and used them for the ceremony. The music they played during the ceremony was really beautiful and added to the authenticity of a wedding in Mexico.

The DJ was awesome! We had Mauricio and we gave him a song list of songs we definitely wanted played. He also included some songs that got our parents and older folks out on the dance floor.

Although we had the Ultimate package, we did hire an outside photographer to shoot our wedding and TTD. We hired Gonzalo Nunez. He and his assistant Giuliana were AWESOME!! I canâ€t wait to see his photos. However with the Ultimate Package, you get 50 photos from Adventure photos. We used these photos to take pictures of us around the resort. They did an amazing job too! It was great, because now we have 3 sets of different pictures.

I will write more later, but I just wanted to say that you all are making a great decision by getting married at this resort!! Let me know if you have any ?'s. Reading this thread and messaging some of the people on here helped me immensely, if I can be of any help to you, please let me know. :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
