Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

I was in the same boat of not knowing if I wanted to dresses. I was thinking maybe after dinner going and changing out of the big wedding dress and into a more comfortable dress for dancing. I just would have to find my first dress for a good price then I wouldn't feel guilty about buying a second one.

I've found 2, trying to decide on one and also, is anyone doing  a reception dress?  I've been toying with the idea but that means going back inside and changing and i wonder how that would work....is it even worth it?

Sky lanterns are the paper lanterns that you release into the air (like a hot air balloon). They were in tangled and the hangover 2. They are pretty common in asian cultures during celebrations and are considered good luck, they are symbolic of problems and worries floating away.  I think they'd make beautiful pictures too.... but they can be dangerous if its too windy!

Oh I do remember those in hangover 2. I had no clue what they were called.

hahah you're too funny. I told you that when you first joined the forum. Why do you think I was mentioning possibly splitting linen costs etc if we decided on similar color schemes :)

Not sure about the guest count yet. We have 2 more weddings in the family so are waiting to see how they tackle their lists before we finalize our budget and based on that, our invite list. I'll have a better idea in November when the 1st wedding is taking place and the other couple is sending out their invitations. Based on research online and destination wedding planners I've talked to, it seems that destination guests expectancy % is anything from 20%-40% of invited list so regardless of how many people either of us invites, the resort should more than easily be able to accommodate all of our guests. The only tricky thing is if there are any other weddings that weekend but considering we've been planning ours for a little longer, I'm hoping it'll give us a leg up. Do you know if there are any other weddings booked for our weekend yet?

That would be gorgeous! And, almost eliminate any decor costs I would think...hmmmm! I'll check to see if they would deviate from their normal routine but if you hear anything sooner, let me know. :)

Has anyone thought about having their ceremony in an obscure location, like the lobby, right where the picture of the stairs are :

Here's a pic of our save the date magnet that I designed and got printed at Vista Print and fyi they have very reasonable pricing. The turquoise is showing more yellow than it is really supposed to be but you get the idea. We also did our own engagement shots too :)

Crazily enough I found my dress within a month of our engagement on a casual shopping trip - but you know when it's THE one and it that was mine :) The boutique recommended getting the major alterations done immediately after that so I went with it. I'm supposed to go back 1.5 month before the wedding for any minor changes they may need to do right before. But they "highly recommended" not gaining or losing more than 10 lbs ;-) Ask them how long their alteration process takes and make your decision based on that.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
