Brooke, did you ever get the answer to this? I'm guessing no, but I agree- it makes for awesome pictures. My friend got married a year ago and her airbrushed makeup looked amazing!

Has anyone set up a Honeymoon Registry through Dreams?

My fiance and I have lived together for a while now, and a year ago we bought a house. Needless to say, we have pretty much everything we need, but my MOH and FMIL insist that we have to register (they're throwing me a shower later on this year- they also say that people are going to buy us gifts regardless, so it's better to pick out what we want). Of course, there's a few things we could always use, but I don't want people to A) think we're greedy and are requesting gifts on top of them paying for their trip if we register or B) get us a bunch of household things we don't need if we don't register.

Sooo, ideally what we could use the most, of couse, is money towards our trip/wedding. Since you can't ask for cash, lol, the next best thing is the honeymoon registry. I'm just curious if anyone has any experience or feedback on this. Does anyone actually donate? Or have you heard anyone say that its tacky? We would register somewhere else too for few things, so this wouldn't be our guest's only option (if someone didn't want to use the Dreams registry).

If anyone has any thoughts or advice, I'd love to hear...

Lol, I learned not to stress out too much b/c it will drive me nuts.  I was worrying for everyone and constantly reminding peopel to book and where to book.  What I did was I researched all the pricing with all the different agencies and sent that to all the guests and they took of advantage of the promotion during the time.  I have about 60 people booked already and a maybe 6 more that needs to get moving.  There were some guests that had me do the bookings for them and paid me back, they actually think i am a travel agency lol.

Emily,

I was thinking the same thing as well:)  We invited about 175 people and so far only 60 is coming so I was also thinking of sending the invitations to those who are going.  I don't feel the need to send to those that have declined, whats the point right?  We are getting married in July so I need to send our invitations out in April.  There are lots of nice and cheap invitations on Costco.com.

I dont have time to go and check out every resort I am interested in so I was having a hard time booking the trip at DRC since im praying when i get there ill love it enough to book my wedding for next year. . . . this thread made me finally settle on it as the hotel ill hopefully book for the wedding lol June 18th is coming close..... you must be very excited. How long in advance did u send your invitations? Also if i book it this June i plan on sending Save The Dates as soon as I get back.... is it wrong to ask people to let me know if they are 100% not coming before i send them an invitation and itinerary? -be honest! lol

We didn't send out save the date cards, we had a website on destinationweddings.com and we sent out save the date emails.  It is pretty cool looking.  That save us money on the save the date cards and it let people know that we are really doing the deed:)

We originally were gonna send Save The Date's but decided it was a waste of money...to be totally honest people are gonna want to know how much - until you know that probably everybody will say "Yes" they are coming...it doesn't become real until they have a number.  I just don't think it's practical for people to tell you 100% without knowing anything..a lot can happen in a year.  We are just gonna get our invites out as soon as possible!!  Hopefully in the next month or two...

So..I don't think it's wrong to ask - I just don't think it's realistic at all.

I LOVE this...! i think its safe and easy and you dont have to worry about it being all over the place in your pics, but that is just my opinion. Also will look great with a backless dress =)

Brook,

I love both of it and I am sure you will look amazing in both.  It's just absolutely stunning.

This is my long wedding dress- I actually found it on line and it is categorized as a "prom dress"  but it is so perfect for a destination wedding- Its really light and flowy.  The dresses I tried on at the bridal boutiques were way to heavy even for their categorized " destination" dresses.

I am in the same position as you TigerIily.  I have been with my fiance for five years and we own a house together.  We don't need anything and the things that I do like on the registry are a little on the expensive side lol.  Since I am Vietnamese, I did send everyone an email with information on the Vietnamese wedding etiquette.  In our culture it is considered good luck to give the newlyweds cash or checks lol, I was wondering if it's weird if we say cash, checks or gift cards since I we don't need anything from Macy's or Bath Bed and Beyond lol.  I know my family will give me cash regardless but to to the other guests that are not Vietnamese I wonder how they will feel about this hmmm.  I rather people not give us anything but I know that will not be the case, any thoughts?

Sacrock,

I sent my bridesmaid a picture of your bridesmaid dress and they all love it.  My maid of honor will be wearing a different dress inspired by Liz Fields too, # 359.  My other 3 bridesmaid will be wearing style #362, I hope that will be ok with you.  I have been sending them so many pictures of different bridemaid's dresses and they weren't too excited about it but with the the Liz Fields style, they were unamimous, Wow.........Thank you for sharing my dear:):)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
