I think my reception begins at 8 pm. So I guess it will end at 11 right? I definitely want the extra hour. I can't believe she said they would start taking everything away while your reception was still going on! That is insane! I will definitely have to talk to her about that when I get there. Totally nuts!

Ladies...if I want to have a welcome dinner, do I have to wait until I get there or can I email the restaurant directly. I know Ana said that one restaurant closes every night so we have to wait to see what will be opened. But I would like to get in touch with ElPatio. Does anyone have their email?

I think the bar in the lobby would be a nice spot. Also - they often have live music at night in the lobby - so could be fun.

Do you girls know if our reception HAS to be 3 hours? What if we want to add an hour? Anyone doing that?

Anyone getting married in Oct- what time is your ceremony/reception?

Thanks :) Robyn
We are getting married Oct. 28th. Our ceremony is at 4pm and then I was planning on the cocktail hour at 5ish and dinner at 6ish and then a DJ from 7-10ish. I think with the DJ your reception has to be 3 hours since that is the minimum they make you pay. I know sunset is around 6:20, I found that on a website. I am also freaking out. We leave 3 months from today! I am excited but also just want to know what everything will look like and that it is exactly what I wanted. I think that planning a destination wedding has to be ALOT more stressful than a local wedding, since we have no idea what we are getting into!! See you in 3 months :-)

cinny726: thanks for that info, it did clarify some questions.

Who has had a semi-private, small group dinner reception without either of the wedding packages? It seems confusing that the info for some Dreams resorts differs....for example at Dreams PV you can have the Portofino cellar for $200, but at DRC it's $60 per couple?!? And at Dreams Tulum, the booklet says if you don't go with the package but still want a private reception, the fee is $750 plus $20 pp plus tax.

We're probably only having 10-15 people, and the packages have so much extras that I'm not interested in, yet I'm having a hard time finding solid information about the alternatives. Plus, if you're in a restaurant you can't have music... sad.gif

Sorry for the vent, I'm just feeling overwhelmed and confused.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
