So you emailed paradise catamarans and they said they can take the boat to Puerto Morelos? Just want to make sure I understand you correctly.... I don't know why I didn't think of that in the first place. Is there still the fee?

The pictures on page 51/52 confuse me. I can't tell the difference in location or attributes from the photos! Help!
I will be having my reception on the pool deck. Like others before have said, it is smaller and a bit more intimate for a smaller party. I love the infinity pool in the background! I just felt that the pool terrace was a bit too much "on display" since everyone in their rooms would be watching your reception as well.... so I went with the pool deck.

Where do you plan on sending your guests after the ceremony? I'm having the hardest time deciding if a cocktail hour is worth it and instead do something like this the night before the wedding. I'm expecting close to 40 people.
I am going with the LOVE package. I did not need the extras that came with the ultimate package, like the trio and the videography. We will be having right around 40 people as well, but I come from a large family and most of that is brothers/sisters and their significant others. There are 7 people in our bridal party, and 4 parents, so they will all be taking some pictures with us immediately following the ceremony. The other guests will be hanging out at the swing bar for an hour before the reception. I put on the invites that there will be a small gathering at the bar before dinner. I am leaving it up to the bridal party to "entertain" at this bar while my FI and I take our pictures. There is usually this down town at any wedding, and I figured the guests would be happy to sit on some swings and talk to one another for an hour at the bar. If I had the cocktail hour, they would be doing the same thing, but in a different location.

I was also thinking that they could go to the Desire Terrace and hang out there. It would be an "unofficial" cocktail hour. They are all guests at the resort so they can all go to any facility during that time, there just would not be any appetizers. I think putting on your reception cards a place for everyone to gather is just fine. Since it is a smaller group I think they will be fine hanging somewhere for an hour and enjoying some pre-partying :)

Quick question-- it seems like the Pool Deck is the BEST place to have the reception. The wood deck and the infinity pool def. make it nice :) I have also noticed comments about lights around the infinity pool... are these lights ALREADY there?? Or are they something that we would have to add extra??

Thanks!

If you look at the picture of the pool deck (orange bows on chairs) from the side there appears to be lights in the palm trees. The area looks pretty well lit to me and I do not think you would need to pay extra for lighting because it seems to already be there. I was not going to decide on adding any extra lighting until I got there and looked at the area myself at night.

For any of you who did a site visit, do you remember if this area was lit up at night or will we be needing additional lighting?

Ok, so I emailed them and they already got back to me! He did say that they do have docking privileges in Puerto Morelos so he is going to get back to me about my date. I too am hoping this works out because it would be so much easier for my guests! Thanks for finding this out!

I would be curious to know if there is enough light as well, I so far have considered those lights under the table USD 30 per, candle centre pieces, and lanterns (quoted small size cost $ 100 USD per 5 lanterns from Ana). Have any of you ladies thought of brining Chinese lanterns from home and having Ana set them up? I really like the look. I also came across the Mexican paper flags and thought of stringing that as well...

As a heads up:

Ana did offer to put up some complimentary tiki torches - we are expecting 50 to 60 guests and she said she would do 15 of them, this only works if you are doing your reception on the deck, they cant do that for the pool area

But now you got me thinking about how much more fun and relaxed this would be and we would include all guests (or at least all that wanted to join us). But this one is down in Puerto Adventuras. How far away is that? I thought it was a bit of a drive. Also, where did you get that it was $25 pp pincluding transpo? I figure for 30 people $700 + $300 (for drinks) + transpo. I'm thinking of seeing if the resort has a cheaper transpo price.
Hi SDbeachgirl - I've never heard of the wine room. What can you share about it?
Thanks!
Ashly

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
