Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

I bought all my flowers and ribbon for half off at hobby lobby and my friend is making all my bouquets. I'm giving the bouquets to the bridesmaids to carry down with them so I have a little less packing :). I'm also having her make boutinieres for groomsmen as well.

Thanks for emailing that.  Appreciate it!

I'm conflicted on toasting flutes and cake knife and server. I can't decide if I want them or not.  Are any of you taking them down?  On one hand I want to memento, but I don't want to take it down just to bring it back.  Fiance is no help either.

I honestly hadn't thought about it.  I have a feeling that by the time I get done packing there will be a lot of stuff that ends up staying here LOL. In all seriousness, I'll likely bring it because it's a huge photo opportunity.

Anyone doing welcome bags?  If so, what's your plan?  How are buying and transporting everything, or are you going to purchase the items in Mexico?  Are you going to have Dreams distribute to the room for the $3/room fee?  Are you going to arrive before the guests to have in their rooms?   We're going back and forth on this one.  any suggestions...

I will just use the wine glasses and serving pieces they provide.  I'm delivering my welcome treats to the room when we get there (asking wedding coordinator for guest and their room numbers).  I found a box of colorful double wall tumblers at Sams ($2.50 per tumbler) that I'm going to fill with lots of fun goodies.  Our wedding favor will be the maracas at the wedding....found a great price on them on Etsy ($4 per maraca) and they will have our names and date of wedding on them.  Everything is starting to come together....GETTING SO EXCITED!!!

Edeaton ~ What etsy seller?  I was thiking maracas as well, and was going to use Amols.  I would like them personalized.

I am doing OOT bags too.  I bought hibiscus bags from the dollar tree.  I bought way too many, so will have extras to sell.  I bought bubba kegs in 18 oz and 24 oz.  I decided to splurge on those since they keep the drinks colder longer.  I am making the oh shit kits with the usuals-advil, immodium, emergen c, hand santizer etc.  I customized matches for candles and chapstick. I want to make little meet the guest photo books.  I think dollar store had 4 x 6 photo books.  I still need to get laynards and wrist coils for room key and cash.  I want to get the little dove chocolates and take them as a little treat. I'm debating deck of cards, beer coozies and disposable cameras.  Everyone is telling me that's enough, but I just don't know anymore. All of these things are adding up!  I will take everything down to mexico and assemble the bags there.  I will also hand deliver each of them. I'm not paying $3 plus tax for them to do it.  My parents live on the east coast, so when I saw them last month I took a suitcase full of decorations and the mugs.  I stuffed that bag full of wedding items.  1 bag done and lots more to go.

My goal is to get the flight times of all the guests and meet them in the lobby when they check in. I'm going to see how long it takes us to get off the plane to the resort.  I'm assuming hour to hour and half.  All the parents arrive the same day as us, so it's just the guests.  Most of them are coming close times together on same day.

Vintagebabydoll (Claudia Lucio) is the etsy seller.  Her work is beautiful, and she has great prices.  I need 13 hibiscus bags if you are interested in selling yours.  What do they look like? It sounds like you have a lot of great goodies.  Love the Meet the Guest photo books....cute idea.

I have 11 bags, but might have 2 more that I won't need. The colors are 4 pink, 1 blue, 1 light blue, 4 green, and 1 lighter green. I think the extras might be blue or red. I attached a picture, but let me know if you can't see it and I can email you.

Thanks for the info on the maracas. They look really pretty!

I just bought starfish for aisle decorations, wrist coils and id badges for room keys and tips! All from eBay. It felt good to buy a few more things I needed. Now if I could make some headway on all the diy stuff I'm working on.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
