My FI and I will be paying for our wedding ourselves so we want to stay on a budget. Do you ladies think it is tacky to put a limit on the amount of guest at our ceremony in Cancun? We will have a ceremony back home after we return.

I don't think it's tacky at all.  I'd say to extend the invitation to the people who you absolutely want there, and see how many will be able to attend, and then go from there.  If anyone questions it, just say you decided that you want a small intimate wedding with just very close family and friends.  For us, the location really cut down our guest list.  We had a huge guest list planned for a local wedding here, because of all of our extended family who would be invited, and live close by, and would definitely attend.  But once we threw the cost of a destination wedding at our potential guests, the number who would attend dropped drastically.  I actually kind of wish we limited our guest list more, because while we have mostly close friends and family going (which is what we wanted), some of our closest friends couldn't attend for one reason or another, and instead we ended up with a few aunts and uncles deciding to come who we aren't really that close with.

Thanks! I think I will just send invites to the people I KNOW that I want there especially since I'm having a reception at home, that way no ones feelings will be hurt,

I was worried about the same. I started a thread about it. I appreciated the positive reponses just like the one above. We decided to set the limit at 30. So far not TOO many complaints. http://www.bestdesti...nt#post_1890409

                Help!
I've been trying to get ahold of the resort, so that we can get some information about locations, food, etc. to make some decisions.

We're booked for May 6th, 2014, but we just want to start making some decisions!

After Evangelina left, I've had no contact from the resort, which is fine for now, as we're a long way from the time of our wedding, so anybody that has any attachments from the resort with information would be AWESOME!

                My e-mail address is james-lawrence@live.com

Are you talking about like going from the hotel into Cancun to sightsee?

I would NOT recommend taking a city bus at all. Take a cab. They also have tours you can go on which I would really recommend if you want to go in to Cancun.

I have a couple of friends back packing around mexico, we are meeting them cancun for a night out.

They have been using the buses to travel from Mexico City, but when i look on google maps Dreams isnt by the main road.

I'll get a taxi, i dont fancy the 3km walk to the main road!

                  Thank you :)

Question for people who have already been to Dreams... Can the men wear smart jeans in the restaurants or do they have to wear trousers?

I dont know what smart jeans are, but men can wear jeans. John didn't wear slacks/trousers at all the entire trip (except for the wedding day!) so it's definitely allowed. :)

We even saw several people allowed in the restaurants with shorts on.
