Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies!

Whew...finally made it through all of the posts. I wanted to read through everything before emailing Ana with my additional questions, this was very helpful and answered a lot of them. I was originally going with the Gazebo ceremony but after learning the hut things where now in the background, have decided to switch to the beach. While I understand the privacy is still an issue, I'm hoping the photographer can manage to keep the gawking guests out of the pictures :) Fingers crossed that they fix this before August!

I am loving the pool deck for the reception and without this thread would not have known about the lovely wine cellar for the rehearsal.

We are going with the Ultimate package. As for bouquet options I sent Ana a picture of what I would like and she said it can be arranged for $180. Also I found the website for the florists that the resort used and found a gorgeous tropical orange and fuchsia centerpiece not included in the pdf Ana sent me. I am positive they can arrange pretty much anything that you want...for a price. Here is the website:

Thank you again for sharing all of your information and pictures!

I am doing my ceremony at Secrets Maroma (dont recommend splitting to anyone, I think I am just in too deep but that is the most expensive thing now about our wedding, big yikes!) and when I had spoken to Ana about that, she said that she is aware that many couple are choosing to go else where, she even said that her and management is moving the site of the beach ceremony and although no weddings have taken place there yet she told me she will email me pictures as soon as one does happen - dont want to jump the gun but I think it is good news. Ana mentioned moving the site, if you are looking at the resort now its at the far left by the volleyball court the space wedding structure thing and the bar, and they will move it way right I think maybe even just past the resort? cause I guess that is a quieter side in any case.

I am looking at these lights under the table, has anyone used them? If I do a solid overlay do you think it will still work?
I am thinking of using the lights under the tables with the white table cloth and then the turquoise overlays in organza. Ana said this will work. It will not be quite as bright as it would be with only the white. Actually Ana thought it was too bright with just white. I have seen some pictures of events where they have done this. How long are the overlays? I think the light only shows through on the side of the table.

Ana did show me where the new location would be. You are correct that it is where the volleyball court is. I took some pictures of that while there

But these are both right next to the bar and the playground. I wonder why we couldn't have it on the other side where the water sport rentals are located. Wouldn't it make sense that they move that over next to the bar?? I don't know if anyone has mentioned that yet but someone on this thread had that good idea.

Thanks for the links! What centerpiece are you looking at? The first link seems like it is under construction. Were you able to view it? Maybe it is just down this morning.

I'm working on my invitations right now. Has anyone created the wording for their invitations yet? I needed some help with this but created a thread on the invitation link and didn't get a lot of feedback. Anyhow, if anyone has suggestions, please share it with me.

Also are you putting the resort address on the invitation? If so, is this what you are using?

Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa

77580 Quintana Roo

Puerto Morelos, Mexico

FYI, here's the intro poem that I found. I was looking for more examples but didn't see a lot and liked this best from the samples that I saw:

"A perfect shell is a gift from the sea as beautiful

and unique as our love is meant to be"

hi normajeane...the beach is pretty and we had fun snorkeling (there was lots to see). it is rocky and a few people cut themselves on sharp rocks. most people stayed in the pool area and out of the ocean. the walk down towards puerto morelos is nice and there are some nice docks/piers to take photos from.

as long as you make sure that you go down early and take up the chiars, you should at least be able to keep people from being right there in your wedding....although, the resort did say that they were going to start moving stuff if it sat over an hour.

SDBeach Girl - yeah I know that is the second location, Ana and her team are now thinking of moving it a third, so yet another new option, I saw that site. Ana if anyone is interested also sent me two weddings that took place there, the problem is if the photographer looks back there is no way for them to avoid other people or the building, funny enough I think the building is a bigger problem then the people in those pictures, but maybe its just me.

From what I understood from Ana is if you look at the resort the beach wedding site is on the left, and they are going to move it right away from the volleyball court, the bar, etc.

Oh and I guess I should also clarify

SDBeachgirl sorry forgot to mention I look first at taffeta overlay, organza for me is a bit of a hit or a miss, although I may buy it here and bring it with, still trying to limit amount of items that will be purchased

Our colors are turquoise/blue and orange/coral/pink, so when I came across the set up (see link) I really liked it, I might just ask Ana to duplicate it, all in blue no green though

Thanks for those links and welcome to the forum Rebecca! Both of those sites worked for me, though I can see that parts of the first site are still "under construction" - hopefully more pics will be posted soon! Good to know who Dreams is using for flowers.

Is the centerpiece you are talking about in the first row of pictures on the right?

Do you know how much something like that would be? It is beautiful.

I haven't done my invitations yet (only STDs) but think I will include the address of the resort. The address I think I would use would be:

Carretera Federal 307,

Chetumal–Puerto Juárez

Benito Juárez, Puerto Morelos

77580 Quintana Roo

Mexico

This is what is on the Dreams website, but really I am not sure if all that is required...? Depending on formatting I may just opt to leave out the full address and just put the resort name and Puerto Morelos, Mexico.

Sorry you didn't get much help on your invite wording. As I said, I haven't done my formal invitation yet, but here's some of the wording I used on my STD:

A topical paradise is the setting,

a romantic getaway for our wedding,

Please SAVE THE DATE

…and start saving your pennies too!

We hope you can join us on the beach as

Wow, a THIRD ceremony site option now! Well I am glad to see that they are continuing to try and improve this situation... hopefully they will get it right!

I'm eager to see some pictures for sure as I am having trouble visualizing...

I too would love to see the new site kind of away from the resort a bit. Obviously I don't want palapas in the background, nor to walk down the aisle with bathers on either side! And I also must agree that while the building is beautiful, having such a large building like RIGHT THERE in the background is a bit of an eyesore as well!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
