Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

Hello Ladies,

As a follow up to Melissa's review, I am also back and can't tell you how sad I am that the dream is over....It was exactly that, a Dream.

We were married Monday May 9th at 4pm on the North beach and everything was perfect from the setup to the weather and all things in between.  We had 47 awesome guests who all agreed they had the time of their lives.  Even more amazing was meeting Melissa and Winter on the forum and being able to meet them in person and share our amazing experiences.  I got to see both their weddings as well and they were equally as beautiful.  This place is a wedding factory and they pull it off so well.

I was a nervous wreck in the days leading up to the wedding, couldn't eat, couldn't sleep and now I feel so silly having felt that way since it was so unecessary.  I worked with Ana Garcia and like the other wedding coordinators, she was totally on the ball.  I brought all my centerpieces, linens, programs, everything and they put them all together perfectly. I can't say enough about how amazing and professional the staff is, absolutely top notch service. Anel was our photographer and her energy and professionalism is the best I've ever seen.  Anyone who has the pleasure of working with her is so fortunate.  She is so detail oriented and truly loves what she does and it shows in her work.  I give her my highest recommendation.

We had our reception on the pool deck which was perfect...I kept it pretty simple since the scenery is amazing decor on it's own.  The food was some of the best I've ever eaten both at the wedding and throughout the entire week, the guests were raving about it. We chose the BBQ Buffet.  The buffet set up is so nice and they really strive for perfection in every aspect of the wedding.

Some may think that having 4 weddings a day may be a bit much but to me it only added to the loving atmosphere at the resort...everyone is smiling, everyone is happy and everyone is celebrating so much love and you can really feel it throughout the resort.  I loved watching so many beautiful weddings everyday.  Every one is unique, special and beautiful in it's own way.

One of the best wedding gifts we could have ever received was from our amazing Master of Ceremonies, before the first dance he read us an email of congratulations that was written for my husband and I from our first dance artist, John Legend.  It was incredible that he took the time to write to us his best wishes for our wedding...it was such a truly touching moment.  This is the song that plays during our slideshow and is a very significant song to us since my husband and I had broken up for 5 years and this song brought us back together. It was an amazing gift!

So, if anyone has any questions, I'm happy to provide any information needed but really, none of you need to worry at all...don't stress about a thing...you picked the right place to get married and you will have the wedding of your dreams,

I'm so excited for all of you!

Lindsay: WOW!!!! My wedding is 1 year away from today and seeing your pictures make me want it to be like tomorrow!!! Beautiful!! Anel is going to be our photographer also! She is amazing.

I have two questions:

1. Did you get your flowers through DRC? If so, was your bouquet considered exotic? It is beautiful!!

2. Did you get the lanterns through the hotel our outside vendor and if you dont mind me asking, can you give me an approximate cost for the lanterns?

Thanks so much and congrats!

Hi Future Mrs. Robart

I loved your wedding photos!  YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE SO BEAUTIFUL!!! It was a lovely affair!  I'm not until May of next year but had a question about your set up, the stage and the fireworks, did the dj supply all of that?  If so, how long and if you don't mind my asking, what is the rate? Was the DJ any good? Who did your decorations and do you have any recommendations on what decorations I should bring down vs. paying for?  What other helpful recommendations do you have and where did you get the beautiful feet sandels things?  My wedding is on the south beach and this would be good for my matron of honor and 2 maids of honors!  CONGRATULATIONS !!!!

We're back from an AMAZING stay and wedding at DRC.  Honestly, the entire trip was a dream.  We arrived and immeditely after giving our names at check in, the ushered us to VIP check in at the Preferred Club where we were upgraded from Ocean View to a Ocean Front Honeymoon Suite.  We were able to see so many weddings and had a fabulous view (Room 2301).  The romantic dinner on the beach (included in the Ultimate Package) was to die for.  Veronica was our WC and she was phenomenal to work with.  EVERYTHING that I asked for was nailed for the wedding. I honestly cannot say enough about her.  I used EW Cancun for our outside vendor and Raff was also a dream to work with.  We traveled down with 34 guests and they are all still talking about the "happy high" they are still on from their stay there.  The food was good, rooms great, resort is kept immaculate and they honestly made me feel like a princess the entire 10 days that we were there. I got to meet Lisa and Lindsay a few times and I believe Ursula quickly when we were leaving Desires on our wedding night. They were GORGEOUS brides and so lovely to chat with. All my girls were happy with the job that the salon did on their hair and we had a MAC makeup artist fly down to do all of our make up.  The entire wedding day went off flawlessly and it truly was magical.  I don't get on here nearly as often as I would like to but I know hearing feedback from past brides always made me feel better especially in the final weeks leading up to May 8th for our wedding.  Good luck to future DRC brides and I can say without hesitation, based on our wedding, you can choose this resort for your wedding with confidence.  Here are the slideshows for our wedding and the TTD. Elina from the resort shot both :-)

Hope that helps. PM me if I can offer any additional assistance.

Cheers,

MRS. Melissa Robart :-)

We used the resort DJ.  I sent him a VERY detailed list and he d'loaded everything and had it ready to go.  Actually what I did was facebook/bbm all my guests, asked them to send me their top 5 all time favourite songs and sent that to DJ Neri. He didn't deviate and was fine at MC'ing.  We had a blast :-)

One questions - who do you end up going with for the DJ? What did you think?

Hi hun - I used EW for the hot pink garland on the chuppah, the blue chuppah linens, chair sashes, lounge furniture and the ceremony aisle florals which we reused on the reception tables :-)  We also used them for the lycra column lighting.  I would recommend Raff without hesitation.

I have a question: What services did EW provide you with? I am really considering using them for my centerpeices and renting from them their poles with lanterns and just getting the rest of the flowers (bouquets, boutinnaires, ceremony centerpeices) from DRC since they are included in the package. What do you recommend?

Thanks!

Melissa,

Your pictures are so beautiful.  You guys both look soooo happy.  I love your bouquet and your bridemaids as well, it matches with your theme so incredibly well.  Your dress is absolutely gorgeous.  I love how you have the guests sign your runner, that is definitely an excellent idea.  I love it

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
