Maybe tipping him will help? I may eventually decide to upgrade my package but for right now that is the plan I don't think I can budget the extra $2000.
Ana said that the dj at the desires club would be happy to make it special for the wedding guest. So I am thinking I could set some music up on a ipod and let the dj work with it. Hey it would make his job easier that night. lol

That is exciting! I think I will definitely stick with the complimentary package now!

As far as I know, centrepieces are not included in any of the packages. Only the Ultimate package includes a floral centrepiece for the head table. I have also heard that people bring their own items to use as centrepieces, which is what I think we're going to do.

hey everyone, I have been MIA from the forum and so happy to see there are more brides and more information being shared! This is great. So good to read the reviews from brides as well.

I recently received some room (only) pricing from my TA (which got comparisons from the resort and a supplier) and wondering what others have for pricing on the rooms only? It seems rather expensive to do it separately and since we are coming in from Australia (but could do the all-inclusive package from Canada) we are not sure which is less expensive.

As well, has anyone decided on their brides bouquet? Wondering what other brides are going to go with?

Thanks!

Hi Girls!

Well I've been lurking on this thread for a little while now... I was supposed to be a Punta Cana bride up until a few weeks ago when my TA informed me that due to the economy, tour operators were cutting back on flights and so we could not be guaranteed direct flights to the Dominican for our wedding date - I was totally devestated! crybaby2.gif From the west coast a direct flight was going to be long enough, and we just couldn't justify subjecting our guests to an "ordeal" to come to our wedding. It was really embarrassing too as we had sent out STDs to our guests letting them know that we were going to the Dominican (resort TBA) - whoops! shitfan.gif

Our TA suggested Dreams Riviera Cancun as an alternative, which actually I considered at the beginning of my wedding planning but decided to move on because it wasn't open yet and I couldn't get any info on it. Now that it's open I've of course fallen in love and so am now happy to say that I am a Dreams Riviera Cancun bride! I will marry my fiance, Craig, on December 8, 2010! FINALLY we have a date and a place! smile29.gif

Congrats Angela on making the decision! If you have not been to the Mayan Riviera before, it is quite comparable to the Dominican (Punta Cana side anyway). The good thing is that the resorts in the Mayan area are a little more spaced out than the resorts in the DR. Congrats again and good luck with your planning!

I agree time is flying! We are getting married at Dreams Cancun. So maybe Claudia will have a little more time on her hands if she's not doing both places. Thank you for responding. Congrats on your wedding.

That's really reassuring to hear! We actually haven't been to the Dominican or to Mexico (which I know is a bit funny considering we're planning a destination wedding) but we were on a cruise to the Bahamas once and totally fell in love with the white sand and clear turquoise water. That was really one of the reasons that the Dominican appealed to me: the beaches just looked so beautiful! Glad to hear that Mayan will be just as nice :)

And the new Dreams really looks so gorgeous, so while part of me is still kind of disappointed we won't be going to the Dominican as we had planned, part of me feels like this was maybe meant to be!

I see that you are from Vancouver. I live in Burnaby but work and go to school at UBC. Small world!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
