Kinda worried about the planning though! I know Ana is probly over worked, but it takes forever to get a reply and i worry if she'll ahve everything documented and ironed out when we get there...anyone else have this fear?
Former brides.. tell me how this worked out for you when you arrived!!
BethAnne - you should talk to Ana about the wine room - I've heard from her and others that it's beautiful. Although you do have to buy upgraded wine to use it the cost of the wine is minimal compared to the cost of a private reception. It might be a nice place for your group!

Does anyone have pics of the wine room or any idea what the menu would be if you were to have your dinner there? We will probably have less than 25 people, and I wouldn't mind buying a few bottles of upgraded wine if it means not paying for a private reception.

You're right - it's not for sure - as far as I understood from my site visit. It is based on occupancy and she stated 60% or less occupancy and they will allow it. I'd double check with Ana before and also, Ana really doesn't have any control or say in what restaurant is closed down, the hotel's management would make the decision so I'm not sure how much consideration they'd give.

Sorry I don't know about the sit down dinner options as I reserved the wine room and was able to order off the French restaurant menu.
I think this answers one of my questions. So everyone at your reception was able to order whatever they wanted off the French restaurant menu? Do you remember about what you paid for the upgraded wine?

Hey Nikki - you'd get to choose to have your guests order off the Portofino Menu or Bordeaux's Menu. Both have been raved about so I'm sure either one would be excellent for your guests. I think maybe on facebook someone posted a picture of a few menus so you could see what each restaurant has.

Perfect, thanks so much. You're the best! I will hunt for the menus now.

We'll be there 2 days before the wedding and I would love to have it at the Seaside grill or El Patio. Anyone asked Ana this yet?
If you want to use Seaside Grill or El Patio for your reception, just e-mail Ana with your preference. As long as you are paying extra (the per person rate for food and alcohol above whichever package you chose), and you have a large enough group (40 is big enough), I'm pretty sure she will make that happen and they will reserve the restaurant for your private-paying group/party. I'm just not sure they would close an entire restaurant for a small group. Regardless, my advice is to at least let her know your preferences - and if you have a few choices you'd be willing to accept, all the better.

Sorry, I don't have any pics of the room, but I thought it was a super cool vibe. Feels like you are in wine bar (go figure). There are bottles of wine lining the wall, and it's a nice private space. Max capacity is around 25 people.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
