Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

Wow! Everyone seems to be doing a lot with their planning! I have done a lot this past week but I still feel behind...we got engaged in July and then picked a place in September and now we are getting married in February! Not a lot of time to plan :) But, I did get my invitations out - just waiting to hear from our TA who has booked so far. We had the same thing Lilly...our list started out at 50 people and quickly grew to over 80! I got my dress and I really love it! I also just booked a photographer. So, that's about it but I guess there's not that much more that can be done now. I am also waiting to hear about the private reception sites and see pictures! I also want to see pictures of a wedding on the beach - I am not a fan of the gazebo :) All of the pictures of the resort so far though look fantastic!

One more thing...I talked to Ana about bringing a photographer instead of using the one with the package (which was no problem) and asked her if something could be substituted in the package. She said there are no substitutions but we could probably get more video. I am not sure how much more, but at least that would be something!

Oh sorry I mean to post this earlier for you ladies - I also emailed Ana about the photographer and she said they could make that exception. My advice is print about 12 copies of the email where she tells you it's okay! I imagine thier rules change pretty often.

I booked Elizabeth Medina - my fiance and I are in love with her work so we decided that pretty early on.

I booked Claudia Rodriguez for our wedding. That was a huge thing and I am so glad I don't have to think about who to get as a photographer anymore - that was a little stressful for me :) I looked into Elizabeth Medina - her photographs are beautiful but she wasn't available for our date.

That is a good point about saving emails, especially since the resort is new!

We have completed the following:

-Signed the wedding contract

-Save The Dates mailed out in July (hand made!)

-Wedding Website complete in July

-Sent deposit to resort (however, it has not been received)

-Scheduled site visit and meeting with WC for Nov.

-Started our gift registry

-Had an engagment party (thrown by my parents)

Next steps:

- Purchase dress (this weekend)

- start shopping for bridesmaid dresses

- Make decision on photographer (looking into hiring Cecilia Dumas)

- Meet with vendor for invitations

I don't think there is an actual "list". Once you find a photographer that you like, I would just run it by Anna to make sure that she is ok with it. Have you started researching photographers yet?

Elizabeth Medina - I have heard great things about her but she is a little more pricey.

Claudia Rodriquez - She is supposed to be really good, but not available on my date.

Moments That Matter - They looked good and got good reviews...not available on my date

Dino Gomez - Good reviews...not available on my date

Citilli (sp?) - one of Claudia Rodriguez's photogs...good reviews but not available for me.

Cecilia Dumas - Good reviews and available...yeah! I plan to meet with her while I am at my site visit in November.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
