Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

Kym - I haven't really narrowed it down! I love Elizabeth Medina but price wise she doesn't fit what I'm looking for (still jealous of boo though, she does great work!) So I'm going to sit down today and compare the quotes I got from Del Sol, Claudia Rodriguez & Cecilia Dumas. I'll let you know when I pick one!

Boo - I can't believe how expensive the albums are! WOW! Personally I would make one myself.. but that's just me :)

Diana - Welcome!

Thanks girls, with this wedding stuff I find sometimes its hard to know whether my sticker shock is justified or not, but I just could not see myself spending the 2+ grand on an album - whew glad I am not alone. I am at work right now and it wont let me open Picaboo but I cant wait to hop on to their site once I get home, thanks for the tip!

Just to throw my two cents in here, I found that Del Sol the two principals were not really much cheaper than E M, our second choice was Cecilia Dumas (dont let me sway you though) most of her pictures on her website however are not in the area of DRC, I loved loved loved the bright colors and how playful it all seemed, but you have to take a fairy off of Cancun to get there sad.gif

Boo - I hear what you're saying. I need to just print out all of the photographer estimates and look at them side by side. And as far as the sticker shock - YES!! Sometimes my jaw just hits the floor when I see some of the prices. Seriously!! And some of the little fees that DRC sticks the brides with for simple things (like tablecloths) is crazy!

I think it's the whole "wedding mark-up" thing... like if you were to order an album of just some photos in general it would be half the price. But because they know you're a bride the cost skyrockets cause they know how crazy we all are about having the perfect wedding wink.gif

I know I can't believe how much they mark everything up it is ridiculous!!!

Personally I like the idea of making my own album that way it is more personalized to Bryan and I. Also I am very detail oriented and picky so I don't think someone else could stand to do an album for me hahaha

oh yeah totally, its like you want this flower then its this much, oh wait you want these for a wedding, well then its double, ha ha - yeah our cost for linen has definitely exceeded expectations, that being said I think I might have to go light on the flowers / centre pieces - I figure the beach the sand should be 'enough' décor

Ashly so far I am renting them from the resort, we are renting 3 sheets of material for the wedding gazeebo on the beach, cocktail table linen as it urks me not to have the linen go all the way to the sand, then linen for the dinner tables and cake table - I think thats it...plus chairs for the ceremony, and I am right now against renting chairs for dinner, it just adds up too quick and I dont know that anyone will even notice

    • we ended up using Facebook messenger when we were in Mexico - the hotel had free wifi and at least 1 person from each family/couple had FB on their phone already - it was pretty easy to communicate among guests "hey, we're heading to the beach bbq for lunch." or "everyone is hanging at the small pool today".  a plus was that some people tried to get a hold of me via FB on the day of the wedding and I was totally not checking my phone - they were asking if the wedding was outside given the rain forecast, thankful my mom, MOH and a few other friends were on the group and could respond for me :)

    • Hi Everyone, So, I was cleaning out my closet and realized that I never sold off my extra wedding OOT bag stuff from our wonderful DW.   46 Daily Spanish for Dummies 30 Pool colored OOT fabric bags - approximately 13in x 13in. They lay flat.  I used them for our wedding and they were perfect for everything we needed to fit in each bag. There’s a slight shade variation in the group; I’m guessing some were cut from a different bolt of fabric.  They are also a little wrinkled from storage and will probably be wrinkled from shipping. I have three additional ones, but they somehow got something on them (likely toddler related). If needed, I can try to wash it out and send those as well.
    • I’m getting married in six months to my foreign girlfriend. I was advised by a friend that one of the things I need to do before saying I do is to get a prenuptial agreement. Basically it’s supposed to protect my assets and properties in case my relationship with my future wife goes down the drain. I don’t know though if this is an acceptable practice when marrying Kiev ladies. I don’t want to do it if it would be insulting on her end. I need advice on this. Please help me.
