Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

Hey new brides congrats!!! I was wondering if you could let me know what the weather (temperature) was like when you were there? We will be there in 3 weeks and I'm just wondering if it is actually warm enough to stay outside all day by the pool and get a good tan! :)

Yes! We were surprised at how warm it was!  If you get in the heated infinity pool and then get out it's cool, but you warm up pretty quick! The sun sets early and the pool area is pretty shaded probably by 3:30 or 4 so the best tanning times would definitely be before noon. There was 1 day we were there it was cool and cloudy, but other than that, it was perfect beach/pool/tanning weather.

I was also concerned about it being too cool at night so I brougt a jacket, but it was so nice at night! There was a perfect breeze and not too cool at all. I still wore sleeveless dresses and didn't need a jacket.

Hello Ladies!

We got back from our wedding/honeymoon about 10 days ago and I finally got around to posting a review of DRC, where we got married on December 7th. The review is under the resort reviews section on this site. Everyone was so helpful on this forum, I really appreciated the advice, tips, etc. Thank you!! Like other recent brides on this forum, I'm happy to answer any questions- we had a small (20 people) wedding and didn't want to spend tons of money but have a nice and sophisticated beach wedding. And we planned all of it in less than six months all while undergoing a house renovation, leasing my house out, moving and being out of town for about a quarter of that time! ;-)

Wendy Hicks with Wright Travel handled our reservations and travel for us and our guests and was fantastic. Couldn't have pulled this off without her! At the resort, we used Anel and she was great! Here is our slideshow: http://061212jekauc.dreamsriveriacancun.adventurephotos.com.mx/#/jekauc/

Want to also say 'hi' to Kelly (KellyKellz) - it was so nice meeting you and Matt!! Hope you had a great rest of your honeymoon! :-)))

And just to reassure future brides- as other brides have said- do not worry, you are in great hands at DRC!!

Happy New Year!

Kelly

as far as video goes i am still trying to decide if i should go with mike cantarell from the cancun wedding videos company. its a little pricey. can anyone send me the actual video packages from dreams riviera so that i can compare the two ? and can anyone share an experience with the videographers from dreams ? have they gotten any better ? i know when i was first planning i watched a video and was like OH NO but maybe they have improved lol. also i have to pay the outside vendor fee if i hire mike cantarell so it all adds up. let me know ;) i def. think a wedding video is necessary especially for the future but i am not sure where to go with this . . . maybe theres another company with decent pricing?

I am a July 2013 Bride at DRC and SUPER excited!! This thread has been SO helpful and all your weddings are beautiful!  I have a few questions, I am using Juan Navarro for photography but since I already have to pay for Adventure Photos in the wedding package, they said I can use both, did anyone else do this? and how did they divide the time?

Also,  I am thinking of doing all neutral colors, anyone do this and Is is too bland??

THanks!!!

Thank you Savannah! That helps. Im so happy to hear that most everything turned out ok for you besides the weather and the DJ. Your pictures are gorgeous! How many days after the wedding did you do your trash the dress session? Did you get your hair done at the salon again? Does the DJ service through the hotel use different DJ's or is mauricio the only one.....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
