Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

I should clarify one thing.... the $20 extra per person I mentioned in my previous post is only for 2 more people. If I have more than 20 (which would be 40 total) then I need to pay the $46+tax+gratuity for any over 40 people. I just wanted you guys to know so that when you ask Ana for it you aren't confused if the prices are different. This also means that if you have less than 40 people you could potentially pay even less than $20 a person...... I really hope that makes sense!

I have been stressed out trying to decide on reception music also..I have concluded that a DJ is out..Its not worth the cost if you have only 20 guests..and now that I hear there is a 3 hr minimum, NO way!
Does anyone know anything about the Carribean trio that is included in the Ultimate package? How do we get a sample of their music, or can we??
It seems like when you pay for a wedding package, the resort should send a packet with all the info you need..I'm so frustrated having to email every question to Ana and responses being incomplete and 3, 4 sometimes 5 days later...

SO, I emailed Ana to make sure that having an "outside" DJ was okay and told her that I was interested in using DJ Doremixx. She emailed me back yesterday and here is what she said:
"If you are checking with dorremix, since they work with us the price and reservation is must to be trough us, I do not why they are giving price to you, the price of the dj is $ 330 USD per hour. And the minimum is 3 hours."

Seriously?!? That is so annoying to me! Basically, they are charging us an extra $650 for the DJ. Where does this money go to? It's not like they have to do a lot of extra work to have the DJ there. I would be perfectly happy making all of the arrangements for myself. All of the "extra" costs are so aggravating. This one especially because I *know* how much I am being over-charged! rant.gif

So, what are you going to do about music?

She also said that my bridesmaid bouquets would be $100 each for hot pink calla lilies.
Is the $100 for 3 calla lilies?? I love call lilies...they look great in pictures!

Hi All! My name is Thao and I have booked 9.3.10 at DRC. I have been lurking this forum for awhile and finally signed up and so glad I did. Can't wait to be a part of this forum now :)

I have so many questions and hope I can get some answers on this forum. Most of my questions include flower/centerpiece options and prices.

I know first hand how frustrating it can be to wait for answers from the wedding coordinators, but please try to be patient with them. They all work VERY hard and do the best they can to respond quickly. Think about all the brides posting on this thread, saying that they've emailed her, plus all of the brides that haven't posted, plus anyone that's not part of this forum! That's a lot of emails to respond to, along with meeting with brides that are there for a site visits and coordinating the weddings that occur daily, sometimes multiple weddings in a day.

I know it's frustrating when you're trying to make plans, but rest assured that they do get your emails and they do get your requests and all of your weddings will turn out beautifully. I think compiling a list of questions and emailing them all at once, rather than emailing one question everyday, is the way to go, it cuts down on the sheer number of emails they get and you get all of your questions answered at the same time :)

This may have been posted awhile ago too, but in case anyone hasn't seen it, they've posted the wedding guide on dreams site Dreams Riviera Cancun Resorts & Spas: Plan Your Wedding

And I think it does a good job of answering a lot of the questions most of you may have regarding prices.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
