For those of you considering the pool deck for your reception or anything else, I have a feeling it all depends on the amount of people. Below I copied and pasted Ana's e-mail to me. I think since I have the minimum as far as people to reserve this, that is why it is $100 per person. She mentions it is due to the set up costs. So those of you that have more people it seems to be a more reasonable cost than what I was quoted. I would have loved to have done it outside and definitly would have if we were having more people. I can't wait to see everyones pictures from what everyone decides to do.

Dear Amber,

Thank you for your kind e-mail!!

Regarding your questions:

1.- The wine cellar is a private room for a maximum of 18 people, since you have 10 guests I todl you that the minimum in wines is $ 400 USD; however in order to have an outdoor private dinner a different charge will apply because we need to set up everything the cost is $ 100 USD per person (mininum of 10 people).

I am attaching the wine list.

Best Regards

There has been a lot of talks about flowers and options for flowers. I agree that it seems that the resort florist seems to do a great job so it is probably more hastle then what it worth to bring your own or have an outside vendor to do it.

But one other option to let everyone know about is fresh real natural touch artificial silk wedding bouquet flowers. These are fake flowers yet look real. Before I realized how good the resort florist is I ordered my bouquet from this for about $65 and can't wait to see it. I tried to attach a picture of mine but can't figure out how. She has a gallery on the site to look at her work. I am doing long stem burnt orange orchids.

From what I gather, these prices are the costs above and beyond the first 20 guests attending the wedding when you have one of the Dreams of Love or the Dreams Ultimate pkg. If you do the basic package then the dinner would be the price for each guest.

Depending on which services/elements you want for your wedding, the basic package with the add on's could be less expensive but ask Ana to price it out for you. Also, you should be able to change your package choice before the wedding. Just waiting to hear from Ana about how much notice they will need to accommodate this.

Does anyone know what the Special and Platinum menu include? What are your options for appetizers or entrees? I am waiting for a response from Ana still.

I asked Ana about the Platinum menu and she told me that DRC did not have a Platinum menu yet. I don't know why, since it is on the website. Let me know what she says. Maybe she was confused. What she did tell me is that if you have the Ultimate package you can mix and match the food options from the different menus (ie appetizer from one, and entree from another). I guess she was referring to the Silver and the Gold (since she claims we do not have the Platinum)

whew what an undertaking we are planning our wedding reception followed by dancing at Dreams Riviera Cancun (where we will stay for the week) on November 19, 2010 so I just read all the threads lots of good info girls, thanks! although I must there are definite themes... hence the reception for me will be held at Secrets Maroma (where our honeymoon will be after), its a big hassle that I hope will pay off in the long run.

I too am thinking blue and pink/orange for flowers, which changed from green and pink originally cause I figure we are in Mexico for blue waters, so heck might as well go with it.

For the ladies who have done a site visit is the deck between the infinite pool and the beach large enough for 50-60 people? or would you recommend the pool area?

Also USD 750 for a dance floor, isnt that just way way too much? do we even need this, to me I dont understand why we would but maybe I am completely missing something.

Just curious, why are you having your reception at Secrets? Will your ceremony take place there too?

I have seen the deck between the infinity pool and the beach and it is definitely big enough for 50 or 60 people. There isn't really a need for a dance floor since it is on hard surfice. I think the dance floor is meant for the sand reception. It would be cool however, because it lights up and it is kind of dark on the pool deck. We aren't planning on getting one, though I do think it would look nice. I may change my mind if I see pictures of it and it looks really cool.

I am getting married here Oct 24... do you guys know how much in advance we need to know what package we want?

I have been emailing with Ana... but I guess we all know- it takes several days to hear back, so it has been a bit hectic and stressful.

I can't decide which one would be the smartest financial decision for me. We will have about 30-60 guests. (still in the beg. stages of save the dates and bookings, so dont know 100% how many will come) I don't know if the basic package + add ons or the dreams of love + add ons will be more or less than the other. Any ideas?

Also- are you guys going to do a site visit before your wedding? If so- when?

And we haven't done anything other than book our place. Ana seems so difficult to work with... should I be stressed... or does everything come/happen closer to our actual wedding date?

thanks :)

There aren't many that have been married at this resort yet so many of us are in the same boat of still having a lot of questions and uncertainties!

I *think* that you don't have to decide for sure on your package until closer to your wedding date (although how close you can decide I don't know!). I've just chosen the free wedding package for now, in order to secure my wedding date and time, but definitely am still undecided as to what I actually want. To be honest, I think that the packages are a good deal except that they do include a few things I don't really need (for example, photography). If I can substitute the photography for something else then that would be good; however, it seems like Ana (perhaps just because she is new) is being quite rigid about the packages and doesn't want to exchange items where I know that other Dreams WCs will do this. So I'm hoping to wait a couple months till she has a bit more experience and then broach this topic with her and hope she has relaxed a bit!

Hey ladies - the colors all sound amazing! I can't wait to see everyone's pictures :)

Boo - I got an email from Ana telling me that the deck between the pool and the beach will hold 200 people (we have about 60-70 coming)

rdsjcr - we originally did the middle package and then started adding things on but we added on the mariachi band and the caribbean trio so we ended up upgrading to the higher one. Ana's flexible with that - I'd just pick the middle or the free one to secure the date and then you can work with her later. She'll send over an excel file that shows you what's included and if you find yourself adding a ton, upgrade! It is true that she tells you she can't break the contract - so I have an outside photographer coming and she offered more video OR to have the resort photographer come for our welcome dinner. So she can't subsitute but she can work with you on it.

I haven't stressed much about her slower response - my wedding isn't until September so I just assume she's probably working really hard on the brides who are getting married in the next 3 months...that's my positive spin...haha

We are having fushia and orange as our wedding colors. I saw some really neat setups of beach weddings with these colors. I e-mail Ana to see if the pictures I have found would be possible. We are getting married on the beach and are planning on having flowers put throughout the isle for me to walk down. I am planning on having fushia tablecloths with orange napkins. I am not sure on the flowers yet though. We want to have a bright wedding, since the sand is white and the sea will be blue. Is anyone else having these colors?

Our wedding planner just came back from Dreams Riviera Cancun and said it was absolutely amazing! I am super excited! She said Ana will work with us to have our wedding where ever we choose on the beach, since she has been getting complaints about privacy. Also, we are having our dinner and dancing on the pool deck. I guess it is right next to the beach so if people want to dance on the beach they can. Ana told me that if we are having more than 30 people, our dinner has to be a buffet, which I am not too happy with but there are lots of choices on the buffet menu. So that is good!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
