from what i gathered in earlier posts for a while claudia was the WC for both Dreams Cancun and Dreams Riveria Cancun until Ana was hired full-time. she stayed on at both places for a briefly while Ana was getting trained and caught up. sounds like this was good for everyone because Claduia was super overloaded with planning for both sites!

When I sent out my invites, I put all of my TA's information on there and everyone is just booking through him, which makes it easy since he knows all of the details of the wedding. It is also much much much less stressful for me since I don't have to keep track of who is booking and worry about getting them good deals. My TA lets me know when someone books and soon he should be sending me a list of everyone's travel dates, flights, etc. I don't think that I could have done this all on my own without being super-stressed!
I did the same - I cc my TA on my emails so she's in the loop but I work with Ana on the wedding details and my TA handles my guests travel and keeps me posted on who has booked :)

Hi everyone- I am new to to this forum and attempting to find the perfect resort! I came across this Dreams Riviera Cancun thread and I'm so impressed. My FI and I are looking at an April/May 2011 wedding date. I sent off my request to get some more information from the hotel. I am also hoping to find a TA to book everything through for my family and friends eventually. Does anyone have any advice to finding a TA that is knowledgable about Dreams? Also does this resort give any discounts for getting married on a weekday? Is everyone planning a legal wedding or just symbolic?

welcome to the forum!

i don't think there is a discount for having a weekday wedding... i just know i am getting charged an extra fee for having mine on a sunday.

i can't speak for everyone, but we are having a symbolic wedding. it just seems like a HUGE PITA (pain in the a$$) to have a civil ceremony down there. between having the blood tests done and the mandatory # of days you have to be there prior to the wedding... doesn't seem worth it to us. we are going to do a legal ceremony here first. we aren't going to tell anyone when we do it and won't do any actual vows either. then it won't feel "real" to us without an actual ceremony and what not.

i know it will take a lot of time, but i HIGHLY recommend all new brides to the forum to take the time to read this ENTIRE thread. i learned so much by doing this and it answered most of my questions. i still read back from time to time to see if there is something i have forgotten!

i think someone mentioned a TA a few pages back that had their own wedding at Dreams Cancun, so she had a lot of experience with the resort. so far i am just using one that one of my close friends used to work for. one thing i like is that she is in-town so i can meet with her in person if i want. sometimes that is just easier than email/phone! it seems like most experienced TAs are familar with the dreams resorts. she had nothing but good things to say about dreams and said it was her first choice if adults only was not an option.

happy planning!

I am getting married on a Thursday and there isn't any special discounts for weekdays, that I was told of. I just didn't want to get married and then have to leave the next day. I am working through a travel agent also. She is the one my guests are responding to and will coordinate all the travel arrangements for me. I am not getting married till next October, but I am sending out my invites next month. My wedding planner here said she thinks sending out the invites early is much better. With the agency we are going through, we get the best rate from when we sign up until 3 weeks before the wedding.
We are also having a symbolic wedding. No one will know that we are getting married in the states first. I just feel really uncomfortable having my blood drawn in Mexico and I guess that it can take up to 4 months for it to be legal. So we figured to just have it legal before we leave. Also, if you get married first, you can have a minister at your ceremony in Mexico. If you get married in Mexico, it has to be a judge. Our wedding planner told us that having a minister is a much more romantic wedding and we are able to have religious touches to our wedding. Hope your wedding planning is going well!!

Here are some questions for you ladies...

I picked the love package

Does anyone know what kind of food we can pick for the reception? Is there a menu?

Also what flowers, centerpiece, and cake goes with this package. I know some of you girls picked this package just wondering if Ana sent you any of these things. Or do you just wait until you get there and pick out what you like?

I came across this forum and i think it's a great idea! I am getting married at the DRC on Nov 6, 2010 and I am so excited yet confused...I am not sure which package to choose from, either the love or ultimate but not sure what the big difference in price is for the dinner either silver or gold. I know its an extra $60 for more than 20 guest and i hate that part, I'm planning on having 40-60 guest. I also asked Ana if I could exchange the cocktail party for extra guest or maybe even for the rehearsal dinner and she said the package is what it is... I find that odd. Hope the planning runs smoothly

Megan,
I am not sure about the flowers, centerpieces, and cake but Ana did send me dinner menus. I am copying and pasting the Love Package dinner menu. I am not clear on this but I think that you only get to pick ONE entree and if you want to offer 2, you would have to pay extra. Here is the Love menu...

Dinner a la carteé
(SILVER MENU FOR LOVE PACKAGE)

No 1

Portobello in a puff pastry shell with balsamic vinaigrette

Smoke salmon salad with endive and fresh asparagus

Mediterranean fish soup

Red snapper filet over ratatouille and beurre blanc sauce
“ORâ€
Individual beef Wellington served with charon sauce

Chocolate mousse cake

No 2

Raviolis filed with spinach served trees cheese sauce

Carpaccio of scallop and Salmon served with lime and Shallot vinaigrette

Cream of Asparagus with roasted almond

Sea bass fillet served over fresh Spinach and Hollandaise sauce
“ORâ€
Gigot of Lamb served with Provenzal sauce

Tulip of strawberry with grand Marnier sauce and ice vanilla ice cream

I have been having the same problem with Ana (not being able to exchange items in the package). I know at other Dreams resorts such as Tulum, the WC will exchange items that you do not use or want in your package. It might be because Ana is new and isn't comfortable yet but hopefully she will get more comfortable with experience by the time my wedding comes.

I am bring down real touch bouquets and I wanted to exchange the package bouquet and bout for getting my hair done at the salon, which is cheaper than the flowers. Oh well, such is life I guess. We'll see what happens next October.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
