Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Thanks for all the pictures and information! It's so helpful!

I'll second what SDBeachGirl said about using a travel agent. We had narrowed it down to 3 resorts and my TA helped select the final one. If you get a TA who specializes in destination weddings, she's probably worked with the wc at the resorts before and has some relationship with them. Mine obviously hadn't worked with Ana before, but she's worked with the wcs at Dreams Cancun and Tulum so she understands (for the most part) thier policies.

Also - I cc my TA on every communication with Ana and I find that if it takes Ana a little while to get back to me, my TA will reach out to her and light a little fire to get her to respond.

She's also available for guests to book through and I think especially for the older people we've invited, they'll be more comfortable working with her then with the resort or using the internet to book you know?

I agree about the travel agent. My guests are booking right now and most of them are booking through my TA. He reserved a block of rooms at the resort so everyone who books through him will be in the same area at the hotel. Everyone who has booked said it was nice going through him since he already knew all of the details of our plans. It also takes some stress away from me because he is keeping track of who booked and when they are traveling! I think I would be lost doing this all myself :)

Hi Laura,

Did you have to put a deposit down on the block of rooms? I'm trying to understand how this works. I would really like a block of rooms but I don't know how many people will be coming yet and I don't want to be responsible for putting any money down on their rooms. Let me know how that works!

Thanks,

Hi! No, I didn't have to put a deposit down but I think that the rooms are only held until a certain date (not sure when that is though). We held a block of 20 rooms. When people book, they only have to put down $150 to reserve their room. We also held seats on a flight, which we did have to put money down for, however, if the seats do not get taken before December 1, we can sell them back to the airline and I get all of my money back and do not lose any money (we had to put $50 per seat down).

Thanks. My TA did say something about how you could get a block of rooms if I put money down on airline seats. Unfortunately, my group will be flying in on different days and from different locations. Oh well. Hopefully my guests will not have any problems getting a room. That is my main concern. It would be nice if we were all near eachother, but more importantly, I want to make sure that the rooms do not sell out. Some of my guests are waiting to make their reservations because they are not sure on the "roommate" situation yet and do not want to commit to anything until they know if they are bringing a date or not.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
