The only room occupancy options I've seen are 3 adults, 2 adults & 2 children or 3 adults and 1 child. Does this mean they will not put 2 in a roomhuh.gif
you can have just one or two people in a room as well, but it is more expensive for just one person.

I am having a very hard time picking the wedding package. At first I was going to just go ahead and do the ultimate wedding package so I would not have to worry about adding anything on. But my T.A/W.P thinks that I would get a cheaper price if I got the free wedding package and add on my reception. I see that some of you are going to be doing the same thing.
The only thing that I worried about with this is that all the separate prices are going add up more then what the package is priced at. But we will see.
Also are any of you planning on getting a d.j.? It seems that the d.j for dreams is about 280 a hour.
In the free wedding package I see that their is not any music for the walking down the aile included. What are you plans for this? I would hate to walk down the aile with no music. I would think it would look kind of strange.
Last but not least I know that the wedding gazebo is not finished yet but does anyone know if this is going to have a beach view or garden view?

Okay no really this is the last question lol
Do you plan on having your honeymoon at dreams or do you think you might go to a adults only resort and get the benefits of having another honeymoon at a different resort?
generally the package is the most cost effective option, unless you're having a really small wedding, I did all of the numbers when I was married at dreams cancun. We had 25 people and to price that seperate for dinner and cocktail hour was a lot more than the package.

My wedding planner is going over the difference in prices between a package or adding on what I want. I will let you know what she comes up with. I am really thinking the love package might be the best. But that is a big jump of price between free to 2 grand. lol. I also want to have a d.j if I have the private party. I wonder if we could find a cheaper d.j off site? But 280 a hour I do not think is to much compared to what the price would be in the states. But then I think why am I paying this much money at all inclusive resort that provides food drinks and entertainment. I dont know I am at a lose of what to do. I really wanted a mexico wedding b/c I wanted to have a budget wedding. But my spoiled self is getting the way. lol
dreams only allows certain DJ's, they don't usually allow you to book someone other than what they offer, so I would definitely check with them before you give a deposit to someone.

Does anyone know of any other places to have a reception besides at the resort?? Im wondering if it would be cheaper to find a place outside the resort... Its almost 90 per person at the resort so IM just thinking that there should be something else cheaper for us.. If anyone has any suggestions,, please let me know!! Thanksblush2.gif

Thanks for the words of reassurance. I've confirmed a date - May 30, 2010 but have not received my contract or made a deposit.

I'm now concerned about the group reservation process. I received a discounted rate from group sales manager and was instructed to email a reservations manager to make reservations. I don't want to have each of my guests email the reservations manager if it is going to be a week or more before they hear back from the resort... so now considering a travel agent to deal with reservations... i wish they could just give me a promo code that guests could enter in the automatic reservations system online or even call the 1-800 number versus emailing and waiting for one person to respond...

Advice anyone?

Girls I got this from my wedding planner just thought some of this might be helpful to know. Especially for people booking the free wedding.

Megan,

I just wanted to give you status as of today, I am waiting on one additional supplier to quote me their best rates. There are two ways you can go with this.... Do a group booking of 10 rooms - no more - no less to guarantee the rate will not change or do individual reservations - rates will vary by booking date and are subject to change if not all booked together at the same time. We've gotten confirmation back that all of the rooms do not have to be booked at the same time in order to get the free wedding OR the other amenities such as the resort credit per person, but there is a booking final date on this - October 16th, 2009. If at least 6 rooms are not booked by this date, the offer is invalid. So, you are taking a chance when you leave it up to your guests to book whenever they have the time or the funds as you could actually lose both promos. By booking a group block of 10 rooms you are guaranteed the rate and your guests can book into these rooms at their "leisure", so to speak. You of course, would put up the initial deposit and you could request they book by a certain date so you would be able to recoup that money in a reasonable amount of time. Or, if you think you may not have 10 rooms filled (I think you will), we can book 6 rooms at the same time, although this would be considered individual bookings, but would enable you to keep the rate of $488.00 per person for 3 nights, so that rate would not change. If one or two or more of your guests want to do an extra night - this is easily done, same as group deviations. I did get the information on adding on a dinner reception if you chose to do the free wedding. I will send that to you in a bit.

Hope this helps anyone. I right now am trying to figure something out. Maybe someone could help.

Is it possible to have 2 couples in a room together??

Megan,
I was told that you cannot have more than 3 adults in a room per resort policy. You can have 3 adults in a room or you could have 2 adjoining rooms. Please let me know if you hear otherwise. I had a friend/guest ask me this the other day and hated to have to tell her that they couldn't have 4 per room. I don't know what the price difference is, but 2 adjoining rooms sounds better anyway.

I hope that answers your question.

Laura,

It's great to have someone on here that will be going through everything at the same time. So tell me, do you have invites out yet? I sent out an email "save the date" 2 weeks ago, which links to our website which has info on how to book. I would like to get the formal invites out asap. HOw many people are you expecting?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
