Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

I didn't realise that they didn't take the $799 for the basic wedding if I got an upgraded package. I was originally going to have our wedding at Excellence Riviera Cancun but have since changed to DRC due to the fact that a child will now be coming and Excellence take the basic package price off (US$850) if you go for a higher package.

Hi ladies - I'm booking Dreams RC for my wedding in September 2010 tomorrow! I can't wait!

We're going to have about 65-70 people and we're planning to do a series of private events leading up to the actual wedding day - so the advice I got was to do the middle level package - for $2,076 and then do my add ons (private welcome dinner, upgrade the flowers, colored tablecloths, napkins, tiffany chairs etc) and it will still come out more cost effective then doing the most expensive package.

Also - we have a family friend from Mexico City who was doing most of my emailing with Ana and several other wedding coordinators at various resorts - we found that with her emailing in spanish, responses were coming a bit faster...

That and if you're working with a TA - I suggest cc'ing your TA on everything - that also speeds up the responses!

Hi All,

I've been engaged for almost 6 months and I'm having such a hard time trying to pick a resort - without a resort I can't confirm a wedding date. I've been looking at DRC for sometime but the more I research the more uncertainty I have.

I received an email from Ana that listed the Silver , Gold and Platinum dinner/appetizer options. There were no traditional Mexican items listed sad.gif plus from what I gathered from her emails the dinners are buffet style sad.gif Does anyone if dinners can be customized? Are dinners private or at least semi private? Are the dinners plated or definite buffet??

Thks.

Hi,

I believe you can do a sit down dinner. Buffet is just one of the options.

I was told that if you have over 40 people you get the buffet. The reason I actually think this is better is because you can only pick 1 plated dinner and everyone will have to eat this. Therefore, if anyone doesn't like fish, it is best to pick a beef dish. Of course there are those that do not eat beef, but I think it is safer than picking a fish dish. It just doesn't seem ideal.

Hi all,

I received an email from Ana and she informed me that the 2 photographers that she works with are:

Sweet Caribbean ? Wedding photo and principal

(Juan Navarro)

These are the photographers that come with the wedding package. She also told me that if I would like to use another photographer, I can let her know and she will "see what she can do". Of course since the wedding package comes with a photographer I am gong to research these. I have read a few posts on Juan Navarro but haven't heard anything about Sweet Caribbean Photography. Has anyone read any reviews on this?

From what I gather, these prices are the costs above and beyond the first 20 guests attending the wedding when you have one of the Dreams of Love or the Dreams Ultimate pkg. If you do the basic package then the dinner would be the price for each guest.

Depending on which services/elements you want for your wedding, the basic package with the add on's could be less expensive but ask Ana to price it out for you. Also, you should be able to change your package choice before the wedding. Just waiting to hear from Ana about how much notice they will need to accommodate this.

I received a similar email from Ana about the photographers. She told me the photographer from Sweet Caribbean Photo was Daniela. I tried to search on google and on here for reviews of Sweet Caribbean/Daniela and couldn't find any. I am not sure what I am going to do about a photographer. Ana also sent me the pricing for the photography packages. I just wish the packages allowed more time with the photographer...the longest time I saw was 3 hours. I love pictures and want to have a ton!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
