Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

I really recommend paying for a dj so your family or friends don't have to be monitoring the ipod. We had the Dreams DJ Mauricio. I included my review about him on this forum.

I think the outside vendor fee is $150 per person. So if your DJ has an assistant, it would be $300.

The dance floor is extra, not a must. The deck and beach are still perfect to dance on. Since music matters more to you, spend more on your DJ and forego the dance floor.

Hey girls! I just got back from my wedding yesterday. It was PERFECT, the best week of my life! Having a destination wedding was so much fun and the resort was absolutely beautiful with perfect weather everyday. You all will love it! Having a wedding there is very easy. I know it seems confusing and stressful when you are not there, but one of the best parts of having a destination wedding is that it is more fun and less stress, so enjoy! As long as you have looked at the options and have an idea of what you want, it is so easy once you are there.

Does anyone know the difference between the pool deck and the pool terrace? This whole time I thought they were the same thing.......we are booked for the pool terrace but which one is better? We are expecting about 60 guests.

I just got an email from Claudia introducing herself and sending some things to start planning the wedding with them!  How exciting!!!

I started thinking about packing and what to bring.  Out of the brides who have already gone down there.  How is the shampoo, conditioner and body wash they give you?  I think I read somewhere that they give you all those.  I think I also read something about washcloths.  You do get them too right?

I was reading the Mexico consulate page and it looks like we can bring in $500 of goods/gifts if traveling by air.

In this list of prohibited items, I didn't see anything about starfish or shells, just turtle stuff is a no no.

The pool deck is wood and nicer from what I hear.  The pool terrace is concrete.  It's a matter of preference for what is better.  I think brides favor the pool deck.  The location is different too, but I forget where they are in regards to each other.

Have there been any stories etc recently about receptions on the beach?  I've been trying to see if we can switch to the pool deck, but no dice, the only options I am getting are the pool terrace, beach and ballroom (which are the same three options I was given originally). We're probably going to stick with the pool terrace, but my fiance was saying that maybe it would be nice to be on the beach.  He wasn't a big fan of the pool terrace pictures because there's "so much concrete", haha.  I seem to remember hearing that the beach isn't great for the reception, because if it's windy there's blowing sand and harder to eat, etc.  Does anyone have an opinion or any info on this?

Did you end up getting the pool deck?

No we didn't!  But we ended up switching to the beach from the pool terrace and really loved it.  There was something special about being right on the beach for us.  All of our guests commented on how much fun it was to have dinner and dancing right on the beach.  It was super windy on our wedding day, but we didn't have any problems with sand in the food or anything like that.  And we found it just as windy at the gazebo during the ceremony, so I think the wind could be an issue at most of the locations, depending on the day.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
