Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Any opinions on photography? I've heard the Anel and Santiago are great at the resort, but I've seen some great pricing and packages from outside photographers as well.  Looking at Juan Navarro and Ivan Luckie. . any thoughts? So many great photographers.

I was thinking the same thing!!! I don't know what photographer i am going to go with.

I am getting married June 22, 2014! Any other prides getting married around that date?

I am having trouble deciding on decorations to bring.

Is it unreasonable to plan on bringing 60 plate chargers? I want them so bad but they will probably make my bags overweight..

Any other decoration ideas would be appreciated for DREAMS RC!

just received some bad news though, apparently we will be moved to the seaside grille for our reception because the pool terrace will no longer be offered in 2014.  wish they told me before i made the invites! where are your locations for the wedding and reception?

Hey ladies!! I am getting married May 24th. Any other brides out there getting married Memorial Day weekend? I would love to compare notes!! 122 days left!! :)

HEY!! SOOO exciting!! Where are you from? I live right outside of DC in Maryland. What are your times and locations? We are getting married at 5:30 on South Beach, our cocktail hour will be on the beach in front of the pool deck, and our reception will be on the pool deck.

The grill looks really nice! When we inquired about it they were going to charge extra money. They told us the pool terrace was only available on Friday nights, and we wanted a Saturday wedding.

Who is your photographer and DJ? Who is your wedding planner? Our photographer is Anel, DJ is Mauricio and wedding planner is Ayahamint Aguirre. How many people are expecting? We are expecting about 70 people.

When did you book your wedding? We booked ours in June! Looking forward to hearing from you! :)

We are getting married on May 29, 2014, so right after you ladies.  Will you still be at the resort then?  We have about 30 guests joining us, and are getting married at the gazebo at 4:30.  We are not having a formal cocktail hour and are using the money towards the overage of guests for the meal.  We are just going to have the guests join us at the beach bar to take pictures and listen to the mariachi band there.  We are having our reception on the beach.

I have nothing else planned as I just finished student teaching, and had no time for anything.  We will have a dj and the light up dance floor.  Did you ladies pick out your dresses yet?  Also, are you honeymooning afterwards?

Congrats! :) i picked out my dress a few months ago and start my fittings next week! :) if your still looking Allure has some really great options that arent too heavy.

I have pretty much everything picked out, apparently you do not really book or pay anything until you have your consultation with the wedding planner.  I def want the the dj and light up dance floor, and depending on how many people end up going possibly the photobooth.  We just sent out the invites last week so the RSVPs are starting to come in :)

We are honeymooning in Cancun as well. The monday after our wedding we will be relocating to another resort in the hotel zone!

Congrats to you too!  I do still need a dress.  I feel like the worst bride ever :) I was looking at the Allure dresses because they look lighter.  My issue is that I would really like a blush colored dress, and there aren't too many of those out there.

We are going back and forth between honeymooning at the Grand Palladium (where we got engaged last year) and the Excellence Playa Mujeras.  Totally different resorts, but we would love either one.

What are your colors?  My fiance is wearing a dark gray suit, and my daughter is going to be the only bridesmaid.  She will wear pink.  I would like hanging lanterns, and am trying to decide if I should bring my own down for the resort to use.  I certainly don't mind paying for the extras, but it seems that they charge enough for each rental to buy the item 2 times! :)  What extras are you adding for decor?  The seaside grill looks so nice, and I was going to have our reception there originally until I was told that I would be charged quite a bit.  I've seen wedding videos that took place there, and they are really great.

I'm having my reception on the beach as well.  I am buying some paper lanterns to take down.  The only problem is since it's on the beach I don't think I have anything to string them to. I was thinking of just putting lights in there and placing them around on the sand.  The resort charges soo much for lighting

My dress is from Blue by Enzoani and is very light feeling even though it doesn't look like it would be. When I went dress shopping I told them I only wanted to try on light dresses.  Marisa dresses are also very light. There were some Maggie sottero  dresses that I liked, but I was told they were heavy so I didn't try those on.

I've actually changed my ceremony to the beach and the reception to the pool deck. I liked a lot of the pictures I saw of receptions on the pool deck. I hired Ivan Luckie as our photographer because I loved his photos and found that the additional packages from Adventure were actually pretty pricey. We are having a pretty big group . . probably about 75 people. I'm trying to figure out what I can bring down for decorations too. And I may end up doing a single stem flower for my bridesmaids .. I only have 3, but the bouquets are so expensive!!  Glad people are starting to chat again on this board. I love hearing everyone's ideas!!

Oh right forgot to say. . we are going to El Dorado Maroma for our honeymoon after the wedding. It's also in the Maya Riviera. Our wedding was originally at the Dreams Cancun and not in the riviera so we thought we would be moving to a bit of a different location and now our 2nd hotel isn't far from the Riviera Cancun, but the El Dorado looks awesome. The food is supposed to be great, and it's a smaller boutique resort with less than 100 rooms, adult only. We also have this mini infinite pool on our balcony which seems pretty cool.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
