Hey everyone! I have a question? We are booked at oceana for reception but when we get there and see the resort and if we change our minds like wanting it in a ballroom can we change our minds last minute? If yes how many ballrooms are there?

Hi everyone... a few questions I have that maybe someone can answer (I'm sure they have already been answered but there are SOOOO many posts to read through) 1.) Has anybody done a Legal Wedding at DRC..and specifically can tell me the exact pricing for the cost of this. I know they charge for every little thing..bloodwork, translation, etc. I am looking for just the total price this would cost me. 2.) Has anyone opted out of a DJ and just rented the sound system for the whole reception? did it work well for you? Looking at the DJ prices make me cringe :( 3.) Has anybody not paid for extra photographers and just gone with what was included with the packages? I really wanted pics of me getting ready etc. but the prices for having the extra photography also makes me cringe!!! Any thoughts/input would be greatly appreciated! This whole process is starting to overwhelm me and my fiancé is thinking our wedding is basically all "planned & ready to go!" haha little does he know... thanks in advance ladies! xo

Yes, you can change your mind as long as they aren't booked. I believe there were 4 ballrooms. In my personal opinion I think having it outside is wayyyy better than in the ballroom unless it's raining. We had to move ours in half way because of rain. The ballroom was OK, but nothing compares to being outside next to the beach in Mexico! :)

1. We did the symbolic ceremony just because we didn't want to spend the first few days of our vacation worrying about getting all of the extra stuff done. We got married at our church the Saturday before we left and it was fine. But ultimately it's up to you. I know there are a few people who have posted on here that they did the legal ceremony and it worked out for them, but I'm not sure how much it costs.

2. The DJ is worth it. I didn't want to have to have one of our guests (or me or hubby) worrying about MCing or changing music. Even though I wasn't completely pleased with our DJ, it was worth it to have him there.

3. We didn't pay for extra photographers but we paid for an extra package. We got the $1500 package and it was SO worth it. We did that and then paid for an extra hour of coverage so she could get all of us getting ready and stay until the end of the reception. The pictures we got are better than any wedding pictures I've seen here in Texas and it includes the TTD session. Just from my personal experience you can't get that much coverage plus pictures that good with any photographer in Texas.

Don't get overwhelmed. I promise it works out. Having a destination wedding (and having it at Dreams) was the best decision we have ever made.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
