HI everyone! I've been stalking the boards here for a while and so many of you helped me make a decision to go with DRC and I just received our confirmation for December 5th 2014; So excited! I have the date confirmed, but now my travel agent is wanting to book our travel reservations ASAP! Wondering what room category everyone chose? I was just going to book Garden view Premium Deluxe Plunge Room; but my future husband really wants to upgrade to a Preferred Club Ocean View King Room; for more privacy since the ground floor plunge rooms don't seem to have much, plus he wants the upgraded amenities.

I'm trying to understand the difference between the honeymoon room and the PC ocean view?

Is preferred club worth the extra cost, or does the resort try to upgrade their wedding couples from premium to preferred club on arrival?

I also read in the documents provided from DRC that a discount will be taken from the Bride and Groom's stay if enough guests book. I'm waiting for clarification from my TA on this but anyone with experience with this discount have any insights?

Sorry for the super long posting; but just trying to get everything organized. My "type A" ICU nurse personality is in high gear.

Thanks in advance

- Britt

You have a higher chance of getting upgraded the higher the room you book.... even if you aren't the bride and groom! We booked a preferred club ocean view and they upgraded us to the honeymoon suite. My parents booked the honeymoon suite (just because they thought they would need more room for family and everyone coming in and out) and they got upgraded to the master suite. We ended up switching rooms so we were in the master suite and they stayed in the honeymoon suite. I would definitely recommend atleast booking a preferred club ocean view. And if its in your budget, I would recommend the honeymoon suite or master suite. We loved the master suite and were really glad we had that to get ready in and have the extra space since we were there for 10 days. The plunge pool rooms are not private at all. And I very rarely saw anyone using the plunge pools the entire time I was there.

Also, the upgrades will be based on how full the hotel is. There were about 5 or 6 other brides there during our stay in December. One wedding party had 75 people so it was harder to upgrade the lower level rooms. So, like I said, the higher you book, the more likely you are to get upgraded :)

You can see the pics of the master suite and our view in my fb album...

I'm torn on doing my own centerpieces and taking the credit or using theirs...but my wedding coordinator hasn't sent me pictures of the centerpieces to help me decide.  Does anyone have pictures of the centerpieces they offer?

Thanks!

I don't have the document anymore with the choices, but they can pretty much do anything. Just send them a picture and they will give you a quote... but make sure you keep the email with the quote because they could change their mind later on! haha.

And keep in mind that the credits can only be used towards equivalent stuff... like flowers for flowers, food for food, etc.

We used the hotel centerpieces and I'm really glad we did. They were perfect and everyone commented on how beautiful our flowers were...

It really was amazing.  Nothing went wrong the entire trip.  Everyone still talks about how incredible it was.  We wouldn't have done it any other way and I can't believe it's been almost a year.  I still watch that video like every day.  haha.  Thanks!

For all of you past brides....would you recommend the pool terrace or the north beach for the reception? I tried getting the pool deck but we will only have around 30 people and was told these are my only two options.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated! thanks

From what I saw the pool terrace is not private, the Seaside Grill is right there and people will pass by to go to the restaurant.  I saw a few receptions on the beach and were private and looked lovely.  I would recommend the beach but of course no shoes.

Hi!!

I was just wondering if anybody had any advice on timings for an October wedding? From what I've been reading I was thinking the north beach for the ceremony at 4.30pm, cocktail hour at the north jacuzzi area at 6.00pm and the reception on the south beach at 7.30pm?. I'm not sure if these times will give us enough daylight for photos etc. And this may sound like a silly questions but do they still charge for plain white table cloths and napkins?. Oh and the last question for now, can we still have the dance floor if the reception is on the beach?.

Thank youuu :)

Hi All Having just got engaged, we are in the process of booking our wedding. We are looking to book DRC for end of may 2014, and having read all your reviews and comments I hope we are making the right choice. All the posts have certainly answered a lot of our queries without having to ring the resort every 5 mins. One question that I don't seem to be able to find is We are hoping to have approx 60 to 70 guests, my family are coming from the UK and will be staying at Dreams resort and Esther's family will be coming from other parts of Mexico and also staying at Dreams. The question is, we have a fair few friends that won't be staying at Dreams but just coming to the wedding . We are looking at having the Ultimate package which includes 20 guests. For the extra guests we have to pay $48 per person. What time can these extra guests come into the hotel resort ? Is the $48 only for the reception ? Or is this the cost of them entering the resort ? Can they drink, all inclusive for the time they are at the hotel ? Or does it only allow them to drink at the reception ? A lot of people have said they didn't have the cocktail hour and that their guests waited at the pool bar while pics etc were being taken, does this mean that these guests not staying at the hotel can use the bar as part of the $48 or do they have to pay for their drinks ( obviously not a problem for hotel residents as they are all inclusive) We are looking at getting married at 4pm, after service and pictures etc, I presume it will only be about 6- 6.30pm, what time did most people, or are most people starting their reception ? The package gives the reception at 3 hours, and extra charge for each hour over this, this would mean if we didn't pay for extra time , we would be over and done by by 9pm !!!!!!!! if people's reception is starting around 8pm what are or did most people do in between ? Think I have confused myself now !!!!! Hope someone might be able to help us Esther and Richard

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
