Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

I haven't been on here in a while but my wedding is next Saturday! So Excited we leave next Thursday.  Gina has been my wedding planner and although she takes some time to get back to me everything has been good.  I'm not too worried as she said we can figure out all the details when I arrive.  There is another bride that has the wedding on the same day Eyeball 17...I'll see you there.  BTW I changed my ceremony time to 4pm vs. 5pm so no one will be rushing, and I'll be at the salon at 10AM.  None of my bridesmaids will be getting their hair or makeup done at the Spa so it'll just be me.  My mother will be there at 12pm to get her hair and make up done.

Anyway I'm pretty laid back and this process has been great vs trying to do an at home wedding.  This forum has helped me with a lot of decisions of my wedding and I want to thank all the past brides who have posted their experience.  I will post a review when I return, I will be there for 10 days so I may see a few more brides.

I am switching to the Excellence Playa Mujerus for a week after. Its an adults only resort. So basically its a week for the wedding at Dreams then moving for our honeymoon.

Were you nervous while carrying all that cash?!? Your reasoning is actually something to consider

No we just split it between us... and i kept it in an envelope close to me... my credit card was gonna charge me a service fee of $600 or more just to pay and i was scared the hotel may over charge me and i didn't want to deal with any confusions... it worked out perfect!

Sooo... I have been posting for the last probably 2 months that we could not get in touch with anyone about our July 21st wedding since the departure of Evangelina. Even our travel agent contacted her resort rep who contacted other people at the resort and still nothing. Then, at 3 months to the day we got an email of a wedding packet (most of which we already had) and it assigned us our planner Georgina.

Great I thought! Finally! Well.. no such luck. Our confirmation has the time off and also a charge for the Seaside Grill which is not on our original confirmation, So I sent Georgina an email... nothing. My fiance emailed her... nothing. We both have emailed the DJ... nothing. I emailed the spa... nothing. We are 10 weeks out and we have nothing, literally nothing, but the trip booked and times and locations (which are not 100% right).

I quickly realized that the packet email we got was received 3 months to the very date of our wedding and it is probably something automatically generated. We started emailing beginning of April and have heard nothing ever again. In fact I have not hear anything since we left our deposit.

I am now going to begin calling and I am so out of mind angry at this resort it is not even funny. I haven't even gotten there yet and I don't think I could recommend this place to anyone due to the horrible horrible horrible planning. I am a second time bride. Honestly, I am not obsessed or emailing them over paper lanterns or cake flowers... I know that stuff can be worked out there. But my reception time being wrong..? Charges I didnt know about? A DJ that is not answering? Hair/Makeup appts I cant get made? I have truly had it. It is ruining this whole experience for me.

Sorry about your frustration and I'm with you on the slow response with the wedding planner from DRC. I am getting married in Oct, but haven't heard from anyone since the beginning of April.  I just spoke with my travel agent and she said June is the busiest time of the year for brides. I understand that but it is certainly no excuse for the wedding planner or resort. If I hear anything I will certainly share with you.

Hello Kerrimaxwell,

I had the same promblem with the seaside grill. Evangelina offered it to me for free but Georgina didnt know anything about this arrangement!

Just forward the email from Evangelina confirming you can use the seaside grill for free and put High Importance in the subject bar. Dont worry Georgina is lovely. she will sort it out cheesy.gif   Do the same with your emails to the DJ and Spa (High Importance)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
