how is everyone taking their wedding dress with them??? I'm worried because i don,t want to put it in a bag and fold it ... I rather just take it hanging but I'm not sure if they will allow that

United wouldn't let me hang my dress up either. The original flight attendant was really rude and basically just told me to find a spot for it in the overhead. Luckily a second flight attendance found a completely open overhead bin and let me lay it down in there and closed it so no one else could put anything in. I would definitely carry it on! And Dreams was great about steaming the dress and husbands suit!

Hey Savs,

just curious did you fly first class and they still wouldn't let you hang it?  I'm getting married there in June and am flying first class just cause we are checking so many bags it ends up not being that much more.  In first class they have closets so I am really hoping they let me hang it.

Also I am assuming you had to put it through the scanners when going through security. Was there any issues with that at the airport?

Thanks

On the way there we did not fly first class. We were actually in the last group to board which made it even worse.

On the way home we were in first class and they still wouldn't let me hang it up. BUT i honestly think laying it in the overhead is better than hanging it. The closests are tiny and it would wrinkle on the floor. If it's in the overhead you just lay it out flat. To me, that seems better.

Yes, had to go through the scanners. No issues really with that! The lady behind me in Mexico started pushing me out of the way to get her bags and her stuff went on top of my dress, but she got a dirty look and she moved really quick so I could get my dress!! haha! But overall, no issues! And the steaming was great at Dreams.

Hey girls! We just got our slideshow link from Adventure Photos! I know some people have been asking about other photographers with Adventure (other than Anel) and I wanted to share our slideshow because we had Francisco as our photographer. He was awesome, really nice, and I think the pics turned out great - even though it rained as our ceremony was supposed to be starting! :)

Here's the link: http://100113papp.dreamsriveriacancun.adventurephotos.com.mx/

I know I was curious while we were waiting for our photos so in case anyone else wants to know about timing...we didn't have time to go through and choose our photos while we were there because they told us it would take a few hours and we couldn't fit it it. So after we got home, they sent us a link about 1 1/2 weeks after our wedding date. From there, we sent in the selection and had our slideshow 4 days later. They said our CD will be here within 2 weeks and the photo book within 6 weeks :)

Our locations in the slideshow are the North Beach (ceremony), terrace outside entrance of Desires (cocktail hour), and Seaside Grill (reception).

Beautiful pics Ashley! Congratulations! loved your dress!

Emily! Oh my how time flies! We'll be there in about 3 weeks! So excited! If there is a Michael's or Hobby Lobby in your neck of the woods, try them, they usually have 40% coupons online :)

I am also using a large seashell I found at the same Michael's and filling with sand to hold our rings. Hope this helps!

Hello future Dreams brides! This has taken me longer than expected but I'll give a quick overview and then send my full review in a few days.

I just got married on January 28th, 2013 at Dreams and it was an absolutely amazing wedding day and week! My coordinator was Gina (excellent service and organization). We had a large number of guests travel to Mexico with us (89) so hopefully I'll have some insights to share for those of you who are planning for a large group. It's definitely costly but there are some ways around things!

Our wedding day flowed as follows:

10:00 am - 11:30 am: Myself and 5 of my bridesmaids had our hair done at the salon and everyone was very happy with their hair. I got a trial two days before but it definitely wasn't necessary. I had a wedding make-up video done at home and we all followed that on the day of the wedding to do our make-up

3:00 pm: Wedding ceremony on the North Beach - this location was definitely more private than the gazebo on the south beach BUT there were still a lot of random people laying/standing around watching our ceremony. It's just the way it goes down there so I tried not to let it bother me.

6:00 pm to 7:00pm: We reserved a table at the buffet restaurant and they just asked that we tip them well...so we tipped the manager $500 and then our guests all left some tips on the table. This is where we saved a lot of money because if we had made a reservation for all 89 people at $15/person it would have cost a lot more!

7:00 pm till 10:00 pm: Reception (just a few speeches and dancing)...our DJ was Jorge and he was fantastic!

We brought out own photographer down with us just because she is one of my good friends and I also opted to have silk flowers made at home and brought them down with us too.

I have more details to share so I will post a more complete thread in a few days...feel free to send my any questions in the meantime.

I've attached a few pictures that our guests took. Enjoy!

Can't wait to read your review! That's the biggest group I've heard of on here! Congrats, your pics looks great! I love the idea of having the guests around you instead of behind you

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
