Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Hi Savs, Quick question - do you remember, are the teal personalized napkins that are folded into the white cloth napkins, beverage/cocktail size or larger full-sized dinner napkins?  We have personalized cocktail napkins that we were going to use for the cocktail hour, but now that we're going to do an informal cocktail hour, I'd like to incorporate them into the table setting.  Just not sure if they'll be the right size.  Thanks!

Hi Emily, I like this idea!  Are the vases $10 for the 4, or $10 each?  I'm assuming you are basically paying to use the vases and aren't actually buying them to keep, so I wasn't sure.  For the two extra centerpieces you are buying, are they going to be made to match, so essentially bouquet #4 in a vase?  Did they mention at all how this would work, like would they collect the bouquets after some of the pictures are done and re-set them up at the tables for you, or do you basically arrive at the reception and have all the girls put their bouquets in the vases?

I had Gabi as my wedding coordinator. She was awesome! She is really on top of things and did an amazing job! Be prepared to wait a few days before she replies to your email. She gets over 100 emails a day.
So unfortunately the resort wasn't able to do anything to honour the rates, I was pretty shocked that they couldn't do anything AT ALL. Had I not been in love with the resort I would have walked away. They recommended I go with a travel agent so I called both the agents recommended by Tammy and Rachel, and I was able to get in touch with Rachel's travel agent, she has been amazing so far so my fingers are crossed we get a decent rate :) at least I can move forward with planning for our big day on 26Aug13, anyone else getting married that day too?

Thank you Emily ... Im using bouquet 4. So i guess $60 with the credit sounds about right...

Im bring my own centrepieces, its crazy how much they cost!.. reusing your bridesmaids bouquets is a really good idea. They will make beauitful centrepeices cheesy.gif

This is my DIY centrepiece.. Its roughly cost me £5 per centrepiece. Just need to get the mirror plates over to mexico without breaking them!

700

did any of you mail anything to the resort? i just got my maracas in the mail from amols and i love them, but i have no idea what i was thinking. i orderred 50.. one for each guests' chair and they are in a huge box. i either have to mail them or have different people take a few in their suitcases lol.... help ! also i am traveling with our 3 year old son so itsn ot easy to add on too many extra bags... we have him and his bag and his stroller so yanno

oh girl, we had SO much stuff we took with us. We had 40 maracas, 30 bubba kegs, all the picture frames and pink lanterns for our tables, chair sashes and table covers, etc etc etc.

Between John and I we had 3 50 lb suitcases, my dress, a backpack, a carry on suitcase and a Vera Bradley duffel bag. We also gave stuff my parents to put in their bags too.

My only tip is spread it out. Don't put 50 maracas in one suitcase. We mixed everything in between clothes and we didn't get stopped. It was a pain once we got there and needed to unpack (especially since we had stuff in other peoples luggage) but we just had the man bring all of the luggage to our room and got all the wedding stuff out and he came back and picked it up and took it to my parents room.

Oh, also buy a luggage scale! We found one cheap on amazon and it was right on with weight. It saved us the extra money of going over the weight limit!

Oh, and don't mail anything to the resort! I was advised to not do that. Especially with it being so close to your wedding! They said it can sit in customs forever!

Hi Emily... Do not mail anything as mailing to Mexico is sooo complicated and packges always get delayed... I work for shipping and customs and Mexico is the worst! I recommend just take the items with you ...

They were cocktail size! I just gave them the napkins to put like at the bar or something and they ended up folding them up and putting them at every place setting! It's the little touches like that that make DRC really exceptional!!

Hi.. Was just wondering where you saw this information. I am (or was) currently awaiting my deposit receipt from Evangelina. I sent her all my forms & my Credit card information for a deposit and now I hear she is no longer there? I've gotten no response from my last 3 emails and am freaking out a bit as they have ALL my information. Does anyone have any of the other wedding coordinators emails please? I would call but I am currently in England and cannot call abroad. Please help someone!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
