I know you said you thought it was outside the French restaurant but the entrance to the French restaurant is in the lobby by El Patio. Unless it's around back?? I think someone earlier said it was outside the back door of Desires. But honestly, I have no clue!

Regarding the video, we booked the ultimate package which comes with a video, but we are upgrading to HD quality for $324. Just thought I would mention that it is an option. We have booked Juan Navarro for 8 hours of photography, and I'm not sure what to use our included photo shoot for. I was considering using the included photo shoot when we do our welcome gathering. Anyone else booking a different photographer? If so, what are you doing with the included photos?

You should be excited because it will be soooo worth it!!  As much as I love our footage, I wish we got the 8 hour.  We were eating dinner when Mike and his crew told us the five hours was almost up.  We hadn't gotten any dance party footage so quickly everyone got on the dance floor and he got about 15 minutes of dance footage.  He still did a fantastic job but if it is in your budget I would go with the 8 hour!  I wish we would've done that.  :)  Hope I helped!

Thanks Lindsey....

That definitely helps... I'm going to go with the 8 hour and try to budget on other things!!!... thank you

Hi Tiffany,

My husband and I booked a different photographer to shoot our wedding and TTD, and then we got our 50 resort photos that were included with the Ultimate Package of us around the resort. The photographer at the resort did an excellent job with all of our photos. They also included a free photo book. Now we have pictures of our wedding, TTD, as well as photos of just him and I around the resort.  Definitely take advantage of your free 50 photos. We are really glad we did.  Below are 2 photos of the photos we got taken with our package at the resort. I think our photographer was named Adventure Photos Photographer was named Juan Rodriguez??

Did you pay 300 for the outside vendor ? and ur video is awesome i have watched it more than once lol

$300?!?!  Is that what they're telling you?!  NO!  They worked something out with Mike because I pushed and pushed and pushed.  They said he had to pay them 20% of what I paid him, which is crap.  So I am not sure what happened and I'd have to look for my invoice but I don't think I paid anything.  We told the resort that I paid Mike less than I did though!  I honestly think if we paid anything for him it was the $150... my parents covered the bill though so I am not 100% sure...definitely not $300!!  I just know they kept telling me no and I said I would have my wedding somewhere else then and then they said yes, but it was a battle.  When the day came, they helped him find my room and there was nothing to worry about, but getting them to agree was annoying.  I think since then, other brides have used him with no problem but he told me I was the first one there in a long long time.  This is getting rambley but I definitely did not pay $300.  That is absurd.  That could be a 2013 thing to keep people from using outside vendors.  I will say though, knowing how good his work is and how great he is to work with, I would probably pay the $300 if I were getting married today.

Sorry if that was confusing!!  Let me know if I can help any other way!

Hi ,,, The resort fee for outside vendor is $150 so that's how much you would be charged for Mike...

It's connected to the Desires Club. In the back by the bar in the actual club, there will be doors leading out to it on the right. So basically, they will have to walk through the Desires Club to get out there. I would maybe just say for your location "in (or through) the Desires Club" because if your cocktail party is fairly early in the evening/afternoon, there will not be any guests in the Desires Club and there will definitely just be wedding staff in there or outside of it to direct your guests, especially if you're still taking pictures. They are there for you and won't let your guests get lost! :)

For those of you who have already gotten married or haven't gotten married and know the answer...

Do you know how to use our free honeymoon nights? Do we have to call the hotel directly to book them or could we go through a TA? Also, do we have to use them at DRC? Or can we use them at any Dreams?

Yes I'm already thinking about my next trip in December ;)

they can but they charge you per room. I also heard from a previous bride that it didn't work out that great for them because some of them didn't get delivered until late in the day or even the next day. We handed out all of our OOT bags ourselves.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
