Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone,

We got married at DRC this past June and I keep meaning to write a review but never seem to get around to it. We had a wonderful time though and things couldn't have gone better.  I wanted to at least share a few photos from our wonderful photographer Elizabeth Medina...I'll try to post a review soon.

I'd rather pay for it to get it done and not have to travel with anything but theses prices are a bit excessive.  Not to mention these are 2012 prices.  What are you guys doing as far as centerpieces, flowers, etc?

I was quoted $60 for BM bouquets! They are basically one of the included bouquets (#16) but smaller. I thought that was a good price! I was also only quoted $60 for the centerpieces I wanted. I didn't think either were too bad. In my opinion, it's easier than dragging all that stuff down there!

Thank you!!!! I was so happy with them!

NO ONE used the spot for telling me how many were coming!!! I guess they couldn't tell that's what it was for??? I was really surprised!

I definitely think 2 months is ok. I wish I would have put 2 months. We still have 5 people who are 'maybes' and I NEED to know so I can order the last bit of the OOT bags. I'm hoping they have it all figured out by Nov 1st!

I've found that alot of people aren't RSVPing. It's people I am pretty sure won't make the trip, but there is a reason I put a stamp on the RSVP card!! I guess they think because it's a destination wedding they dont need to?

I can't wait to see yours!!

For centerpieces I am using these cool lamps I bought at Pier 1 that are turquoise with starfish motif and also bought 24 hot pink votives. The package I am getting comes with two centerpieces and I am doing one long table, family style as there are only 25 of us. I plan to use centerpieces, votives, and 4 lanterns down the center of the table. Placing maracas at each place setting with colorful menu and chair sashes. I think that's it. I also don't want to haul suitcases full of stuff to Mexico. Hope this helps give you some other ideas.

The only other thought I have...would it be possible to go to Puerto Moreles to get the limes and bring your own candles and lilly buds (fake)?

How many additional boutonnieres and bouquets do you need?

I'm thinking that we are going to have at least 40- 60ppl so we are going to have several tables.  I do like the lamp idea but I'm not sure about carrying them down there.  I was having 3 bouquets and 7 boutonnieres (big family) so it's definitely not ideal to pay $20 plus tax for those.  I have been doing some research and have a few ideas to try to keep the costs down.  I was thinking of doing my own bouquets & boutonnieres with fake flowers (saw some on another forum) very cost effective and not bad looking.  For the centerpieces I saw someone who bought a blue colored plate and put one candle in the middle then sand and seashells.

I decided to go with an outside vender Maya Floral, they were recommended highly by other brides and their prices are more reasonable than the resort. My bridesmaids bouquets are $50 each....I went with a more expensive centerpiece (white roses and hydrangeas with 4 candles) which are $75 each (through the resort I was quoted over $100) but for the centerpieces you are looking for I'm sure they would much cheaper than mine...I have been working with Marvin he is very responsive to emails, you can just send him pictures of what your looking for and he'll send you pricing [email protected]. To avoid the outside vender fee charged by the resort a few of the groomsman are meeting Marvin at the entrance to Dreams to pick up the flowers at 1pm the day of my wedding. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info I'll definitely consider this.  I don't mind paying money for it but not that much for simple arrangements.  I'm trying to avoid bringing stuff down with me besides the necessities.

I picked #6 but with white lilies instead $90 + 11% tax.  The $60 is not bad for a centerpiece with flowers but I wanted something like this but with a white plate, white lily & 1 candle.  They can reuse the limes so I don't see why it couldn't be free and then just charge for the flower.  I could simply bring my own candle and a fake lily but I'm trying to avoid going to town to pick up the limes...I don't want to stress when I get there.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
