I love your invitations. Just the right colours and the sunburst is so pretty. Are you doing any other things like thank you's, and timelines for bridesmaids, etc in the same design?

HI ! So far .. I signed up on destinationweddings.com and have been assigned a wedding specialist .. I was feeling over whelmed with everything and just wanted to have someone with experience in destination weddings .. she has been very supportive and she was able to get my date reserved and provide me with a written contract outlining the times and locations I had requested (not sure if this is normal procedure or what) .. just that alone was worth the $50 fee haha .. at this point I am just trying to figure out when we should be making our reservations .. my wedding specialist coordinates all that for me but I'm not convinced that she has the best pricing .. I feel like we need to wait until Jan or Feb before we book anything .. I am thinking it's still too early .. I did see on Facebook tho they have a deal going for groups where you get a free room for every 5 rooms booked or something .. my contract says no outside vendors but of course if you read this forum you get all sorts of mixed messages .. I reserved the ultimate package but now I am thinking I shouldn't have .. because I am probably going to be booking an outside photographer and videographer ! So all sorts of random stresses haha but I am trying to take it one step at a time and not rush into any decisions! I did purchase a wedding website which I have started working on .. it's wedsite.com and I really love it .. I am thinking we will probably send save the dates with our website on them and then just skip the whole invitation part, it just seems like a waste of money to me .. we can do all our RSVP's thru the website. Anyway it's great to meet you! Let me know how your planning is going! Looks like we are in this together! I am worried it's going to be super hot!

You are a day before our wedding!! Have you started any real planning yet? Sometimes, I think its way too early to make certain planning decisions... But then I can't help myself. Lol

So I am still figuring this out .. I hit reply instead of quote sooo my response to you went to the end or somewhere LOL for the world ! haha

So I got some quotes from Dreams on the bridesmaids bouquets, boutonnieres and centerpieces.  I was highly disappointed on how expensive these things are especially the centerpieces I wanted.  I just wanted some limes on a white plate with one lily and one candle $60...not what I expected.  Also the boutonnieres $20 plus tax & bridesmaids bouquet $90 plus tax (not happening) so I'm going the DIY route at this point.  I rather not DIY I hate crafty projects!! I'd rather pay for it to get it done and not have to travel with anything but theses prices are a bit excessive.  Not to mention these are 2012 prices.  What are you guys doing as far as centerpieces, flowers, etc?

I am not having a wedding party, so no need for extra bouquets, I am adding a few more boutonnieres and corsages but that is all. For centerpieces I am using these cool lamps I bought at Pier 1 that are turquoise with starfish motif and also bought 24 hot pink votives. The package I am getting comes with two centerpieces and I am doing one long table, family style as there are only 25 of us. I plan to use centerpieces, votives, and 4 lanterns down the center of the table. Placing maracas at each place setting with colorful menu and chair sashes. I think that's it. I also don't want to haul suitcases full of stuff to Mexico. Hope this helps give you some other ideas.

The only other thought I have...would it be possible to go to Puerto Moreles to get the limes and bring your own candles and lilly buds (fake)?

How many additional boutonnieres and bouquets do you need?

I decided to go with an outside vender Maya Floral, they were recommended highly by other brides and their prices are more reasonable than the resort. My bridesmaids bouquets are $50 each....I went with a more expensive centerpiece (white roses and hydrangeas with 4 candles) which are $75 each (through the resort I was quoted over $100) but for the centerpieces you are looking for I'm sure they would much cheaper than mine...I have been working with Marvin he is very responsive to emails, you can just send him pictures of what your looking for and he'll send you pricing marvin@mayafloral.com. To avoid the outside vender fee charged by the resort a few of the groomsman are meeting Marvin at the entrance to Dreams to pick up the flowers at 1pm the day of my wedding. Hope this helps!

Hey Girls- I have a question regarding bridesmaids hair and makeup.  We are paying for all 7 bridesmaids dresses, shoes jewelry, clutch and a beach bag filled with other goodies. I would really like all of them to have their hair and makeup professional done, the spa at Dreams quoted me $102 per person for both hair and makeup (we get 15% off for booking the ultimate package) So my question is who pays for their hair and makeup...are my fiance and I expected to or should the bridesmaids?? I know with weddings I've been in locally I've always paid for my own but being destination wedding Im not sure what the etiquette is...Let me know your thoughts and what any of you plan on doing.

Thanks!

This is only my thought .. I think hair and makeup should always be optional, I would never make one of my bridesmaids pay for anything they didn't want to spend the money on .. that being said, I do want all my girls to have their hair and makeup done professionally, I think it's more formal, and I think it's an important part of the experience, so we are going to pay for everyone as a gift, I am going to ask that they bring cash for tipping tho .. at least $20 or $30 I'm guessing

Savanah I love your invitations!! Mine are in the process of being done and I have to say that yours are VERY VERY cute. . i especially like the way you did the response card with the "reserve ___ beach chairs". . . i will post a picture of mine when they are done also ;) i am making my response date 2 months before so that i can have an official count and prepare OOT bags and other things like that although people already started to book without invitations lol do you think its silly to ask for a reply 2 months in advance ? also i am doing a plated dinner and the resort needs my dinners 1 month in advance so i guess i have no choice

I agree with you here, the centerpiece i picked has a lot going on so if something simple is $60 i can just imagine what mine will be! any ideas on what you end up doing to make it cheaper please share ;) I am not spending $90 on each bouquet ( i have 5 bridesmaids ) because they are going to hold them for 20 minutes and then take a few pictures and then put them down on a table somewhere so no way am i spending 500$ on them lol flowers are not really important to me, so its hard for me to accept lol when i was at drc i did see a wedding taking place where the girls held cute little clutches instead of flowers- it was actually very modern and i am trying to think of a cute idea as well ( or fake/cheaper flowers ) lol

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
