Hi Lindsey,

If you don't mind me asking, how much was your videographer? Also, did the resort charge you extra to bring him onsite? Did you have to book a room for him for the night? Thanks :-)

He was $2600 for 5 hours of filming.  He brought two other guys will him so they were able to capture everything we wanted.  The resort charged us $150 extra for bringing him in but when you look at their video quality in house it was worth EVERY FREAKING PENNY!

Hi Ladies,

I definitely need some advice from you brides who have already been married.

I am getting married in May 2013 and wanted to use Anel.  I had been talking to Yamina about it and she told me not to book Anel yet.  Well, when Yamina disappeared I figured I may as well contact Anel since no one would have the history of our conversation.

Long story short, Anel was already booked for my wedding. :(

I am super bummed and annoyed that I was told to wait and now lost my chance.  Either way, I want to know how the other photographers are.  Do any of you have feedback?  Should I be looking outside of the resort?  DO you think I will be ok?

Please please please pass on all your feedback.  The wedding is so far away but I am stressince since I want to make sure I have pictures for the guests that cant come.

Thanks!

Anel is not available for mine either but i am not worried because if you look on their site which i dont have the link to right now but its around somewhere all of them are pretty similar. i have seen some reviews with slideshows from the other photographers from drc and they do excellent work. i think one is francisco and one is santiago. the videos i seen do not have me worried at all ;) dont stress ! theres a bride katie beth if you look at the reviews and her pics were gorgeous and taken by one of the male photographers... also when i did my site visit i took some photos by the pool with these iguanas they were carrying around and long sroy short the pics were done realy well and i went into their studio and saw them all working hard. also it was one of the guys who took the pics just didnt get his name

Congrats all you lucky DRC brides! - both on your upcoming weddings, and for choosing such a great resort to have it in - well done!

From past experience, I know that booking resort photographers, is taking a chance with something you can never "do over".

In fairness to them, they just don't have the same training, expertise or equipment that the professional photographers in our area do. I know of one bride whose in-house resort photographer even lost her whole wedding shoot! and that's just not something you can ever replace.

Anyway all the brides I know who've spent the extra money to hire one of the professional photographers in our area, have all been Very! Happy! they did so :) Now they have a gorgeous photo record of this amazing day starting off the rest of their lives together - very precious and irreplaceable!

Some of them have used the resort photographer for other shoots - like to take friends + family photos, or reception ones ,or TTD, but hired a professional for the most important wedding "moments that matter" - and were So Glad they Did! It's a decision they're happy they made every time they see that photo record and re-live that wonderful time :)

Wishing you all the best - researching your plans + creating the perfect wedding celebration of your dreams! Enjoy :)

I just got an email today from Rodrigo Barcelo from Innovative Audio Video Communications Made Simple as being my DJ.  Has anyone worked with him?  Doesn't seem like the normal DJ company everyone has been talking about with Mauricio.  This is an AV company. I used to work for an AV company and all AV companies I've worked with do not specialize in DJ'ing.

The resorts DJ is Visual Sounds i have a feeling you were emailed by an outside vendor. [email protected] is the email address the resorts DJ had contacted me from, you can email them and ask if they are available, they responded pretty fast and seem very nice. I also read some pretty good reviews and he sends a sheet for you to fill out so he understands the style of music you like. The DJ is my biggest worry but I am taking my chances with them!

Hello All,

I got an email from Anel who actually looks at this forum (Hi Anel!!!)  Rodrigo Barcelo from AVI SPL is the resorts secondary DJ when DJ Mauricio at Visual Sounds is not available.  She says he is a great DJ/MC with lots of experience.  She gave me the reassurance I needed.  Thanks Anel.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
