We are meeting at the lobby bar for a "welcome party." And then using the beach bar for the "cocktail hour" I didn't want to pay for these since we're at an all inclusive so we're just telling guests to gather there.

Hello everyone!  I must say I'm beyond excited that I came across this website!  The wedding pics that have been posted have been absolutely beautiful!  I"m getting married this December, and I am interested in any advice I can get from you guys! Other than booking our wedding date and location we have had no response from the wedding coordinators which seems to be the norm from what I'm reading.  We are getting married on the beach and our reception is supposed to be on the pool deck.  We are expecting around 40 guests.

1.Does anyone know if you can use the long rectangular tables instead of the round table on the pool deck?

2. I have read some reviews that past brides have used outside vendors for chairs, table linens, etc.  Any input on wether it is worth the trouble?

3.  I"ve read some of you have brought down your own paper lanterns for the reception.  Do they charge you to hang them with lights?  Just wondering if it is worth it instead of paying $10 per lantern in Mexico.

4.  I wasn't planning on paying for candles on the tables, but are the hanging paper lanterns enough to light the pool deck at night for a reception?

5.  Any suggestions on great DJ's and photographers?

6.  I was hoping not to have to pack a lot for the welcome bags.  Does anyone know if there are stores close to purchase items for the welcome bags?

I would love any advice and any pictures of past weddings & receptions!  Thanks- meg

Congratulations and Welcome to the board!! I'm getting married in December also!! You'll definitely find this board to be filled with lots of invaluable information! When is your wedding date? Mine is December 8th. I know there's a 2012 wedding roll call on here somewhere but I haven't seen it a while but anywho...on to your questions. cheesy.gif   (1) Yes, I believe you do have the option for rectangular tables vs circle tables. (2) Not sure  (3) Not sure (4) The good thing about the pool deck is it has sufficient lighting from the lights on the trees to the light from the pool. I think you will have more than enough lighting using the additional paper lanterns. (5) I've heard Anel's name quite often, but I would have to agree with Savs, I've seen some amazing pictures from slideshows and in my opinion all the photographers from Adventure seem to be quite talented. (6) There is a Costco in Cancun, Wal-Mart and Sam's club are in Playa del Carmen.

I would be careful about where you have a Coktail Hour. I'm not sure what time you were thinking either, but most of the beach bars close at 6pm. Besides the Lobby Bar, Desires would be available too (they open at 6pm). They have nice outside terrace and patio options too, if you don't want to be cooped up and inside.  Here is a resort info I used to get the hours of all the bars/restaurants. I put this on my website for my guests too:

We have a welcome gathering at the Lobby Bar (Rendezvous) and it was great. Lots of room & some entertainment (singer). We all met up there at 8pm.

Hope this helps :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
