Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

Hi all!!!

Today was our first day here.  Customs was a BREEZE!!!  We had 12 bags total, counting out clothes and wedding things, between my parents, brother, his gf, my fiance and I.  The only one who got stopped was my brother's gf.  She showed them her clothes, that's it.  She got the red light that's why.

They asked why we had so much stuff.  We told them for our wedding, offered to show invoices, they said it was okay and we were DONE!!!

Dreams has been awesome so far.  They upgraded our room from the honeymoon suite to the master suite without us even asking.  We are so close to the North Beach where we'll get married on Friday and today we watched a wedding there from our balcony.  Tomorrow morning we meet with Lorena!

It has only been 1 day and we've NEVER been happier we chose DREAMS!!!!

HI GIRLS, for anyone who took the time to answer my questions- thank you SOOO much. I am going to bring my own chair sashes and will order the flowers and centerpieces from the catalog!

I have another question ( what else is new ) - does anyone have an opinion on the lounge furniture set up on the beach for the cocktail hour ? This is what I orginally confirmed with Yamina, but when Lorena wrote back ( that one time ) she siad she had down for me the jacuzzi area.

I emailed her telling her it was a mistake but I havent really heard anyone on here talk about the lounge furniture set up. I thought it was a cool little feature sitting on the beach on a couch having cocktails but I wonder why noone else really does it.. hmm maybe I made a mistake ? Do you think its not private enough and won't have the look im really picturing ? Any opinions on this would be great, or anyone who did it maybe you have a review to steer me in the right direction ?

My fiance is not crazy about the jacuzzi idea.... so I think we are now between the lounge furniture on the beach and the desires terrace.... H E L P :)

Iâ€m new to this forum and in the process of reading through all the posts. I found a lot the good information and useful tips. We just booked our wedding for January 6TH, 2013 at DRC. Lorena will be our wedding coordinator. The email seems like taking forever to get through, and Iâ€m anxious to waiting on reply. With less than 6 months Iâ€m nervous that I donâ€t get many things done. Does anyone have a schedule or to do list that I could use as reference. I really want to know when we should confirm the ceremony location, reception location etc. Any suggestion would be awesome.

Happy planning all!!

Hi- I think the most important thing you can do is confirm the locations, times, DJ, & photography. Everything else after that is stuff having to do with the menu ( which should be done in advance but can always be done ) and decor which I believe I heard some people say they have even made changes once they went down there just a few days before their wedding ! SO get on top of your locations and times because the resort fills up quickly and you most likely are not the only wedding that day! Write your coordinator an email.. label it urgent and get a confirmation on the times and locations that you want ! thats my advice ;)

Hi Emily,

I too am struggling with cocktail hour location. I originally wanted it at Desire's Terrace but Lorena told me that Desire's Terrace will no longer be an option for a cocktail hour location. I asked her what are the options but she has not responded as yet.

I really don't care for that Jacuzzi area. To me its a little awkward having a big jacuzzi in the middle of an area where our guest are supposed to mingling and DRINKING. Also, we are inviting children. It will be a nightmare if one of them fell in =/

I like the idea of lounge chairs on the beach but I am worried about privacy as well as the HEAT (my wedding will be in August).

Quick question... If I or you opted for lounge chairs on the beach, do we have to pay to rent the chairs, tables, lanterns, etc.? I really hope not.

Our wedding is in 2.5 weeks. Due to the heat, we opted to have our Cocktail Hour inside Desire lounge. We are hoping it will be nice and cool in there! :)

Oh man, what a relief about customs! So glad it all worked out. I need to go through all my emails and get my receipts printed out just in case.

I'm so jealous of the Master Suite upgrade too!! i keep reading about all these room upgrades, I hope it happens for us but i'm trying to not get my hopes up and just be happy that we will have a preferred club room that we booked.

HAVE FUN!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
