Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

We are paying the extra money too for a big dinner. It stinks but it was really important to us. We live in CA. My family is in Philly and his family is in Florida so no one has met. We wanted to make sure we would be guaranteed a big table to ourselves, rather than showing up early together and hoping for the best. I told her we did not need a private room or anything (that is $35/pp).

This is what I asked Yamina and her response is below that:

We would like to pick the location for our Rehearsal Dinner (8/2/12 @ 6:00pm). What are our restaurant options to accommodate a table for 20 people? Will it be a pre-set menu? or will we be ordering off the regular menu?

For 20 people, you can order from the menu. You can have this dinner on the terrace of the Oceana Restaurant (seafood) or, in the terrace of the Himitsu Restaurant (Asian). Let me know what do you prefer

Thank you! This is great to know! Maybe we will meet in the lobby, get a drink and move to Desires. I'm having my cocktail hour in there also!

Thanks again :)

Well theres pros and cons to each.

Lobby Bar - in the evening due to events will be PACKED and therefore little seating and the bar only seats about 10. Its hard to get a drink and if its busy they sometimes mess up the drinks. However, since there is entertainment usually in the lobby or the steps of the lobby that is something else to entertain your guests. The lobby bar is also not in an enclosed building so it will be hot.

Desires Bar - Its air conditioned, actually pretty cold unless your dancing. Theres a good size bar and plenty or table our couch seating. The dance floor is good and they have screens for the music videos to play on. Since it is a bar the music is loud and sometimes outdated, but the DJ takes requests. Its a good place if you have a group that likes to dance ! Depending on the other guests staying at the resort the bar could have a crowd or not. I was there for 2  weeks and the first week of people at the resort weren't really bar people and the second week of people the bar was always full.

Thank you :) Yes we bought the bouquets through the resort.  I can't remember how much mine was because it changed from what she originally emailed me but I do know that my bridesmaid bouquets were $65. Yamina also told me that they can only get peonies in May and June which I have no idea if that is true.  If I can find my receipt then I will let you know how much mine was.

I also of thinking of doing this. My group is only 26 of closes friend and family. I am sure we can manage with a portable Bose system. I discussed it with the WC and she said it was fine. I am sure we are not the only ones that have done this. I do plan to pay for the the sound system in the ceremony.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
