Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Congrats! I know your wedding is going to be beautiful! As far as timing of when to cut the cake and things like that, my (almost husband!) and I are doing all the first dance, mother-son dance, etc., right away, and toasts, so that we can enjoy the eating, and then the cake cutting after dinner, then dancing. I read from a bride on here before to have a general itinerary of how you wanted the reception to go, and make 3 copies - give them all to the wedding coordinator, and she gives one for the staff, and one to the DJ. That way, everyone is totally in sync. Also, I think you need to give someone the heads up you want to cut the cake 5 minutes ahead of time, because they have to bring it out from a refrigerator inside the hotel. Have a wonderful time!

It has been a while since I've poked my head in, must have fell off the list a while back. Happy to see so many brides around the same time as me! "Kate, Nikki and Annie" Hope to see you ladies there!!

So, just curious for some opinions ladies, how does everyone feel about the paper lanterns? I was thinking I would just hang them on a strand along one side of the deck, maybe 5-8? Does anyone have any other ideas? Also, trying to figure out how many I should get?

Thanks for any input. I am officially going to start scouring this board. T-minus 10 weeks!!

Thanks! Yes I brought the sashes.

The cupcakes were $3 extra for the 20 ppl included in the ultimate package and $5 for any additional ppl. They didn't have a cupcake stand though so I brought my own (it was just a plain white cardboard one that I dressed up a little bit....easy to pack!)

hmmm.... I may do the cupcake thing instead! I luv it! geat idea!

Where did you get your sashes from?

For the MOST part I'm not freaking out-just need to finish a few last minute things for our welcome bags.

One thing I haven't even started thinking about is the music for all of the ceremny and stuff!  We are "dancing" down the aisle to I think I Wanna Marry You, but other than that haven't thought of it.  Also haven't made any decisions about the timing of the reception with when to cut the cake and stuff...

We picked a different song for each of our wedding party to enter in with...but they don't know what song it is!  LOL...so like our super tall thin friend is coming in to "will the real slim shady please stand up",.  They are all pretty funny!

Any insight or help with the music stuff?  We have a DJ so I guess I'm just thinking I'll leaving it up to him except for our father/daughter, first dance and mother son songs...

Happy planning!!

Katie

When is your wedding. We may see each other there. We arrive on the 4th of June and our wedding renawal is the 7th.

I 'm doing the Love package. I tried to swap our 36 pictures for the Mariachi Trio (then upgrade to a bigger photo package), but Yamina said no....womp womp.

Just wanted to let you all know in case anyone else thought of doing that also.

So I think I will add 2 extra hours of photography (1 hour of us getting ready & 1 hour at the reception) and also add the Marachi Trio to our Cocktail Hour.

Do you know how many hours of photography is included in the ULTIMATE package? I won't be using their photographer but I would like to exchange the videography and the photography for the DJ. I included this request in my questionnaire... I haven't received an answer yet.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
