Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

The hotel does offer group rates which would be negotiated by your TA. They are not drastically discounted but better then what you would find online. Dreams also offers 1 complimentary room for every 5 paid rooms per night (6th room free), based on double occupancy, as well as 1 free Upgrade to next room category up with every 10 paid nights.  Free rooms and upgrades are based on nights covered by all rooms over same dates (what your average guest is staying for/type of room booked by majority of the group). Maximum of 3 free rooms per group and 2 upgrades per group. You could either give the free rooms to designated people, use them them for yourselves, or take a credit for the amount and divide it by everyone booking through the room block (thats what im probably doing). I am either going to give everyone back some $$$ or use the money to plan a group excursion. It does add up. If your average guest is staying in an ocean view for 4 nights you would be looking at around $3500 back ($290 per night for 2 people x 4 nights X 3 free rooms) . Lastly, with the group rate they do offer each guest a $100 resort credit.

Hope this helps!!

I emailed her about the "one entree" for everyone deal and told her it would be impossible. I am hoping this isnt true because its ridiculous. ALSO does anyone know if there is in fact a "platinum" dinner menu. I keep asking her to send all the menus and she just keeps sending silver and gold. I see on the brochure it says platinum as well... ( we are doing the ultimate package so i figure I want to see all the options )

and lastly..... i am using a local travel agent but i feel since we are booking so many rooms we should get a nice deal from the hotel.. does anyone have information on this ? How many rooms need to be booked and how does this process take place.. i cant imagine not getting something off with the amount of rooms that will be booked for my wedding... let me know if you know!!! happy planning everyone!!

Okay i need to be talked off the ledge here..... i just went to our travel agent we were using and found out that the weekend we chose is one of the MOST expensive of all weekends. Presidents weekend is the weekend b4 so we stood clear of it yet somehow it is about 500$ cheaper per person. I already sent out my save the dates & i am soooooooooooooooo upset/nervous now. I didn't want my guests to pay a ridiculous price. my fiance and i went to drc last year for 4 nights & had a preffered club room for 1100$ a person..... for the weekend of our wedding 3 nights is $1600 a person and its a garden view room!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( we are traveling from new york )

WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN MY SHOES? DO I CHANGE THE DATE & SEND EVERYONE LETTERS EXPLAINING WHAT HAPPENED OR DO I JUST SAY O WELL AND HAVE THE WEDDING THAT WEEKEND ANYWAY ? this is a total nightmare.... =( all advice is welcomed!!!!

I say change the date. No shame in sending a letter, especially if you are tryingnto save guests a minimum of $500.

Your wedding is in February right?

I wouldn't change it yet. I had the same meltdown you did when we first started pricing ours for December.

Flights just came out for February and they will be high for awhile. Our flights for December just dropped last week. They were over $700 per person from Houston! Now they are about $450. My fiance' and I just booked our trip last week even though we'd had the wedding date booked since January. I say you give it a few more weeks and see what the flights do and then if they don't drop, consider changing.

0900631b81defbe9M.tif?op_usm=1.5,.8,0,0&resmode=sharp&icc=A98&wid=350&hei=350This is the suit we got for my Fiance.  He just got the pansand the vest with a white shirt.  All the gromsmen got the same thing but in a darker color.   "bone" for the groom and then "linen" for the groomsmen.  From JC Penn and a really resonable price!  We just couldn't stand to ask everyone to pay hundreds of dollars for a suit after the thousands they are paying to come to the wedding.  We are happy for it.  Hope this helps:)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
