Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

Hi kellykellz,

We booked Samuel Luna and reserved a room for him for one night. We did the same thing for videographer and dj. I don't think they allow outside vendors anymore. So if you want to use one, you will have to book a room for them.

What photographers have you used at Dreams Riveria Cancun? Did you go with the package photographer? or did you have a outside photographer come on site? If you used an outside photographer did you purchase a day pass for them, or a room for the night? Looking forward to hearing back from you all! :-)

We are using Anel who is part of the Adventure Photo team (the resorts photographer). We have been very pleased with all of her work that we've seen! She's also very responsive and helpful via email :)

Hello All,

I have another question, I don't like the menu options so we are basically creating our own menus.... Yamina wrote back to me that I dont have to have a buffet and I can do a plated dinner... but we are having the reception on the deck infront of the infinity pool and at first we were told we could only do a buffet... Im just wondering if maybe she is confused or if this is really possible. Im not sure which I would choose anyway but the buffet menus really dont look good to me at all !!! HELP and if any of u designed ur own menus was it difficult or did u just take different things from each menu and from the restaurants at dreams ?? I can tell the food options are going to be the biggest pain in the butt for me because we want our guests to have high quality delicious food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanx

I picked the Love Package  The corresponding menu has 2 complete meal options. Evangelina let us mix and match from those 2 menu choices. Beware-you are only allowed to choose ONE entree for EVERYONE. We chose a seafood entree and I know that some of my guests are allergic. I've emailed Evangelina to let her know that we may have a few guests who will need another option. I'm sure it will be fine.

Hi Emily!! You are getting married on my birthday by the way :). I am going with the caribbean buffet but Gina is allowing me to swap out some things from that menu from the other two menus. Not sure if that would help you since you seem to now be leaning towards a plated dinner, but thought i would let you know that they are open to swaps if certain items dont sound good to you.

Our reception is on the pool deck as well and Yamina gave us the option of plated or buffet so I think you do have the option as long as your guest numbers are right (we have 39 guests + me and the groom).  I didn't like the plated options much so I chose the BBQ buffet, and made some slight changes to the menu, which Yamina said was fine.  (We asked to drop the tuna & salmon kabob and replace with the beef kabobs from the Caribbean buffet.).  She said you get everything on the buffet which seems like a better option than having to choose from the plated meals...I thought it was a better selection!  I've read good things about the Caribbean buffet on this forum as well :)

Thank you to everyone who responded .. i appreciate it!! Yamina actually just answered me as well and YES plated dinners are allowed on the deck.. so now i jsut have to decide which I would rather. I emailed her about the "one entree" for everyone deal and told her it would be impossible. I am hoping this isnt true because its ridiculous. ALSO does anyone know if there is in fact a "platinum" dinner menu. I keep asking her to send all the menus and she just keeps sending silver and gold. I see on the brochure it says platinum as well... ( we are doing the ultimate package so i figure I want to see all the options )

and lastly..... i am using a local travel agent but i feel since we are booking so many rooms we should get a nice deal from the hotel.. does anyone have information on this ? How many rooms need to be booked and how does this process take place.. i cant imagine not getting something off with the amount of rooms that will be booked for my wedding... let me know if you know!!! happy planning everyone!!

Hi! I used magnetstreet.com... and chose the names written in the sand magnet... i don't want to overdo the beach theme so im not going to use similar invitations but i thought for the save the dates it was a cute idea becaue it sorta set the tone. on it i have the date obviously.. our names... "dreams riviera cancun" and the free website i made from theknot.com. they came very fast and were very nicely done..

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
