Hi Ladies

We where going to get married at the Barcelo Palace but now we are looking at the Dreams RC for our May 2013 wedding, and I was wondering if anyone that has gotten married there can tell me how the service was, how where the WC?

Thanks,

Keep your ceremony at North beach.  It is much more private and less people around to water.  Also, south beach has a bar right in the sand and a child's play area.  I was there and definitely, definitely you want north beach!

I am struggling with a few things and i was hoping some of you might be able to provide me with some insight. I would be sooo grateful. Too many decisions!!!

We are getting married 11/30/2012 BTW

Ceremony start time:

My goal would be to start the ceremony as late as possible (but while we still have sun) so that there is a smooth transition from ceremony to cocktail to reception. I would prefer to have my reception start at 7pm so that it will at least go until 10 (i may extend to 11). Gina suggested a 4:30 ceremony, 5:30 cocktail and 7 reception. My concern with starting the ceremony at 4:30 is that the sun sets around 5:05, so even if my ceremony lasts 15mins, we will only have 20mins of photos before the sun sets. If i started at 4 or 4:15 Iâ€m not sure what my guests would do until the 5:30 cocktail, unless i moved my cocktail to 5 and then had a 1hr gap between the cocktail and reception. Do you have any insight? Have any of you considered taking some of your photos before the ceremony?? Sorry to ramble :)

Reception location:

North beach vs South beach. Gina has me at the south beach vs the north. does anyone know what the difference is? My ceremony is happening on the north beach and the cocktail is going to be at desires terrace...

I really appreciate any help i can get. Thanks!!!

Me and my guests are all in Mexico for 2 weeks and we plan to do anything. Jungle Zip Line, Chichen Itza, Xcaret, Snorkelling. Im not worried at all, anything should be fine :)

We planned on treating everyone to some kind of retreat or excursion on the trip. With all the bad news coming out of Mexico lately I'm very upset i even chose Mexico, but its too late to change that. Recently i read a story of a charter bus excursion from a Mexican resort that was hijacked with machine guns and robbed for their money and jewelry. Fortunately no one was hurt.  However this just puts such a bad taste in my mouth... excursions and activities booked with a charter group are supposed to be safe, but nowadays its a crap shoot.

So my question is to anyone who has recently returned from their wedding and did something similar to this or anyone planning on doing this. A snorkeling trip, a booze cruise, swimming with the dolphins, etc. IF SO, who did you book through and what was the cost? We're looking for something fun, affordable, and safe that we can treat our guests to and spend a nice day together.

MY SECOND QUESTION:

Is their an on site barber for the resort? We are going a few days before the wedding just like mostly everyone, and on the wedding day the groom and groomsmen are going to either need a shape up or a haircut! The group of guys are very particular about their barber, and we have even contemplated flying him down with us, but increasing flight costs are getting out of control! Have any grooms out there dealt with this?

THANKS!

HI!

Congratulations and welcome! I had actually inquired about your wedding date back in January but Eva informed me that it was already taken so now I am getting married the day after you!! :) I was having the same issues with the sun setting so early and not wanting my party to end at 8, and ultimately decided on a 4 pm ceremony on North Beach(because it is more private). In between we will have toasts, some group photos then 5 pm cocktail hour at North Jacuzzi, and a 6pm reception that we will probably extend for an hour at the deck.  If you want a more private atmosphere, i would recommend North Beach!

I just wanted to give an update on my planning. I emailed Evangelina yesterday and she got back to me today and answered all of my questions, so I figured I would share in case anyone else had the same questions:

1. I wanted to remove the cocktail hour from the LOVE package and use the credit to add 20 additional guests to the reception-she appoved that

2. I want the LOVE dinner menu, which has 2 options. I asked her if it was possible to mix and match menu items from each of the options.-she approved that as well

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
