Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

Oh geeze... I was working with Evangelina.... And I definitely want to trade things out! I dont want the flutes, or the video. Or the cocktail hour!

Im going to be pretty persistant about these things!

I mean, in reality... We are all providing so much business to the resort. Our list is up to 58 people that we must invite. If 4-5 dont end up coming, I will be surprised.

That means Im giving the resort 50 people they wouldnt have had if it wasnt for us getting married....

hmmmmm.............. Ill keep you all updated. I just got my rates from my TA today aswell!

Also... the DJ question.... I want one seperate from the package I think... How does one go about doing this?

And the GAZEBO.... where do you walk out from, and how has anyone done their music, or s planning on doing it?

Hmmm.... Maybe Ill start seperate threads for these questions. But they never get answered! haha....

Any insight would be awesome.

You guys are so helpful so far! Thank you, I really appreciate it !smile159.gif

was wondering a few things as well...

what are the songs you guys used for entrances?

what shoes are the bride/bridesmaids groom/groomsmen wearing? (was thinking flats with a starfish but cannot find for the girls and just regular sandals for the guys)

what are you guys having the men wear? (thinking tan linens, white shirts, groom in a vest)

ALSO could someone forward me that spreadsheet that you have been talking about? just curio...

To answer the DJ question - you have to use the resort DJ or pay an outside vendor fee. I'm not sure what the fee is though. I'm using the hotel DJ and he's responsive to emails and helpful.

I have NO idea about the gazebo.... I never even thought about that! But, it's a good question!

my groom is wearing a tan suit, white button up shirt and a tie that matches the bridesmaid dresses. The groomsmen are wearing the same thing, except no jacket, just khaki pants. And brown belts and brown dress shoes.

The girls shoes will probably be silver sandals. I think I'll let them pick out their own.

No idea on entrance songs yet. I'm walking down the aisle to Somewhere Over the Rainbow (the version with the ukulele) only because Wizard of Oz was my favorite movie growing up and it fits me :) And the ukulele gives it a little bit of a beachy feel :)

I emailed Eva last night asking her again about the cocktail hour and also asking her about trading out other things in the package. I'll let you know what (if) I hear back!

I emailed her a question about 3 weeks ago and she never responded!

Lots of veggies for your meals...especially leafy greens.  I drink my veggies in smoothies...definitely keeps bloat down.  Drink A LOT of water daily to flush everything out.  You will look gorgeous!!!

Lindsey - thank you for the video! I feel like I was there looking over the grounds myself, and it really helped put some ease back in my mind!

To other brides..... I am totally flip-flopping (and not in a fun beachy way) on what to do with our wedding package.  We are having a VERY small wedding with only 20-25 attendees, and I am crunching the numbers over and over daily to stay within a tight budget, and still get the fabulousness I'm aiming for.

Here's the issue - I am bringing down 90% of my decor - material for the gazebo, centerpieces, tablecloths, chair decor, even getting flowers at the local market and doing my own pomanders for centerpieces, etc. (Keep in mind I have fewer tables to decorate, etc., so its easier to lug all this stuff).

Instead of doing the Love package like originally anticipated, I were to go with the basic wedding package, and paid per person for a Silver Package reception dinner, we would save between $750 and $1000 . This works great since I'm getting more flowers, upgrading the cake, photo package, etc., etc., and really don't need/want the majority of add-ons the packages offer. And we all know how costs add up, $1000 is a nice chunk of change for the budget. And Eva and all the reviews state how DRC will put out your decorations you bring, etc.

BUT - my FI and I are flat out very concerned that not paying to upgrade to the Love or Ultimate package will mean our service will suffer - wedding coordination, or decoration cooperation, or the week we stay after the wedding for our honeymoon.  I REALLY don't want a miserable experience with setting up a wedding out of the country, but there is a lot I could do with that $1000.

Does anyone have any advice??? Personal experience, or just what your own gut tells you, help! And thanks :)

Ceremony 4:00pm, Cocktail Hour 5:00pm-6:00pm and Dinner Reception 6:00pm-9:00pm

My daughter will only be 3 years so i wnated to make sure she will be awke for the whole wedding.

I'm having the Dreams Ultimate Package so the cocktail is included. Im keeping it and having the Mexican Trio play during the cocktail Hour. My guests are all coming from England so i want to try and make the day amzing them :)

I really wanted to have the buffet option for dinner but Evangelina email me yesterday: you need to have at least 40 guests, im only having 25. Im so disappointed! :(

What time are you doing your ceremony and reception? Alos I have many other brides on here instead of paying for the cocktail hour their guests just go to the lobby bar or outside bar instead. Unless it is included in the package and they won't let you substitute it for something else or credit you this may be an option. BTW Evangelina has yet to answer my email about our times!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
