Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

LOL!!! It seems like I've done nothing either.  But I've done enough. Regarding the OOT bags, I was going to put them together before I left and just pack them so when we got there, pass them out. I'm arriving with some of my guest, but I figured I'd get a list of my guests rooms from Evangelina and either a. walk around and pass them out the afternoon of the day before the wedding, or b, pass them out to everyone at like a dinner the night before the wedding. No one has really mentioned a rehearsal so I'm not quite sure how that goes.....to be honest, I feel like my wedding is going to be thrown together and its depressing me because I don't know what I should be doing at this moment or how things will be when we get down there in terms of the actual wedding.

Have you done a lot of planning so far because I have done pretty much nothing and its starting to scare me!!!

I know I'm a long way out from my wedding (12/17/12) but I've been wondering about how the ceremony actually works....

That may sound silly, but do you get to meet with the person doing the wedding before hand? Do they tell you what order everything is going to go in so you can make programs or do we decide all this on our own?

I have no idea how a ceremony is actually supposed to go.....

And what about a rehearsal... I know there are weddings every day so it seems like it would be impossible to rehearse.

ahhhh, so many questions and not enough answers from Eva!!

Hi there!

I was willing to change my date as long as it meant I could have the pool deck. I knew it would save me money as far as the dance floor goes and those pictures I saw of it was one of the things that made me fall in love with this resort. We're getting married in December there so if you decide to change your date, maybe we'll run in to each other!!

Nice to E-Meet you! Thanks for your response. I was referring about the deck in front of the infinity pool. I can see that they do an excellent job but i loved this area since it was steps away from the beach but not on it. Also, i would save some $$ on getting a dance floor if i waited to have the wedding when the deck was available. Oh, decisions decisions. Can I ask where you are having your reception?? Also, how was the weather when you went in november?

I have to say this forum is great! I am definitly feeling a little overwhelmed in the early planning stages and it has been such a relief to hear from past, present , and future brides.

Is anyone using an outside Photographer? I've read on a few posts from different brides that some were told that outside vendors were not allowed....

If you are using an outside vendor, what is the outside vendor fee? and could you give me a website to some photographers?

...just trying to shop around :)

The resort is about 15/20 minutes from the airport, not too far at all. The beach was nice, the water isn't as blue and clear as if you went down the coast 15 minutes but its still lovely. Hope this helps!

Is anyone planning on using starfish as place cards?  I planned on doing it but I read in past threads that they can be held at customs!  I have no idea now.

Fiance and I decided not to ship anything, after all of your advice.  I'm now trying to figure out how many suitcases we will need.  5.5 months to go!!  I am so excited.  :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
